No idea what any of that means but it says something about urban areas that need revitalisation and some about sports teams mismanaged or run badly.......

A football club that doesn't own its own stadium is clearly a hot target then.

Yes, but the point is there's little value for a property investor to buy us as part of his portfolio with that arrangement. The land is the real asset, not the stadium.

What good would owning the land do? There's a stadium on it. Can't imagine they'd build a new stadium to get their hands on some Ipswich land.

Perhaps there is an option of purchasing land from council

Not nicest part of Ipswich to be building houses on aswell. I would be more worried about the training ground.

Just seen on Bloots' link... Approach - League growth, loyal fans and attractive geography (we're a one club country) Opportunities - Teams who have been mismanaged/underinvested for growth. That is us 100% isn't it? Hmm.

The club (or ME, in other words) not owning the land the ground is on is much safer for the long term prospects of the club. A here today, gone tomorrow owner could hold future owners to ransom or even sell the land for alternative uses (albeit it would be difficult to secure any change of use). The council (who owns the land) is more likely to protect its use and preserve if for the community, knowing how valuable it is to the Town as a driver of tourism etc.

Ipswich Borough Council owns the stadiums land, we rent it from them. There was a dispute over Evans having not paid the rent just a few years back. [Post edited 24 Feb 2021 23:14]

He’s a less rich and less dodgy MacAnthony To be clear though, he buys to make money. As soon as we aren’t getting that return we are just another disposable asset. CWYWF etc
