Hear me out...
I don't doubt there is a player there, potentially a really good player at that. He is one of our own.
However - he has been the constant in midfield this year and he offers virtually nothing. He has a nice touch and makes the odd tidy pass, but he doesn't create, doesn't tackle and often goes missing. In short, he is a luxury item and one we can't afford if we have any hope of getting out of this league next year.
Cook will have to rip apart this squad, of that there is no doubt. What we don't know is the extent to which he'll be backed in the transfer market. We won't mount a convincing promotion push with freebies alone. We should use any fee from Andre to buy the attacking players that we'll need to get us up.

Don't forget it's not about selling based on what he has achieved so far, it's about selling the potential of Dozzell. He's been unlucky with injuries, but a solid full senior year, england u20 star previously etc etc,
If you can get £2 mill for Toto and Nolan, you will definitely be able to get more than that for Dozzells potential.

I doubt anybody will make much of an offer for him now, and I think you're going to have to live with seeing a bunch of freebies next season. I'd be surprised if any clubs below the Prem spend much in the way of transfer fees in the summer. |  |

They were two of the stand out players in league 1 when we brought them, Andre has just had a shocker in league 1, no way on earth we get £2m, 500k tops. Probably better to keep him and see if he comes good in a different system with different players. |  |

Dozzell has been hotly followed through the last few years, and it's a shame he suffered the injury when he did.
No one knows what he will sell for, until then we can all speculate. But don't assume just because he's not had the best season, it means he won't still be seen as hot property to some. The fact he has managed to get through this season and add some really respectable appearance figures, will enhance his reputation
And the fact that apart from town fans, he's actually a player well thought of, if he wasn't, we wouldn't have given him a longer deal. [Post edited 6 Apr 2021 8:32]

No. We need a frontline that is consistent and intelligent enough to give him runs and options. Likewise a midfield that has a bit of physicality. We miss Downes, Nolan and skuse because the only options available is using him alongside Bishop. |  |
