Surprised it needs spelling out, but I would hope it might act as a reminder to the 'senior' players who have underperformed both collectively and individually this season, that it's not acceptable to us as a fanbase. Particularly the past couple of months under Cook, where they've evidently downed tools. In the absence of any fans in the ground where we would typically voice displeasure, it might, in some small way, get a message across.
As for why, of course it would be one very minor action which is difficult to quantify, and there's a good chance many of this squad won't be here beyond this season anyway, but perhaps it might bring some attention to what has seemingly been a culture of accepting mediocrity at the club. Perhaps it would be a little bit symbolic and help drive Cook's agenda that it won't be tolerated anymore.
Or we could give it to Chambers, keep sucking our werthers originals and happily clap another season of utter dross, then wonder why there's no accountability or desire to improve. | |

I think a greater statement would be simply not voting at all. That way no one would get "offended" by the prospect of a fake award, and it puts across the resounding message of dissatisfaction.
Why say something to make a point when saying nothing will give a more powerful statement.
