Anyone a cup purist still and wants Cook to go full strength? 09:01 - Nov 6 with 1709 views | Mullet | It is a shame the cup is no longer that special, maybe it’s a generational thing, but I’d be quite happy to see a Papa John’s side today and let the key players rest a while. The league is always all important, especially with ground to make up, so for me I’d rather build up the outer edges of the squad from the bench this week in case they’re needed for the slog ahead. Anyone still believe we should play our strongest team, or did we lose that idea since relegation?

Anyone a cup purist still and wants Cook to go full strength? on 09:05 - Nov 6 with 1219 views | Marshalls_Mullet | Yep!! I'd like to see a strong side. I don't believe a couple of matches in the FA Cup will harm our league form. We have ignored the cups for a decade, and it's not been one bit of help. I believe in keeping momentum going. Although I think 3-4 changes would be understandable. Would like to see Pigott get game time. Am not sure if the team can function properly without Morsy. [Post edited 6 Nov 2021 9:07]

I think it can, and we need to get that working cos Morsy may well miss some games eventually.

Anyone a cup purist still and wants Cook to go full strength? on 09:08 - Nov 6 with 1188 views | Keaneish | Our squad has more depth now than it has in an age with like-for-like players able to slot in. Rotation can be justified now; it was hard to make a case for it at times under Lambert and Mick and proved to be detrimental on more than one occasion.

I think Pig has to play. If he doesn’t that’d be really odd barring injury. Would be nice to see him score and be used off the bench more in the league too.

I think Tuesday has skewed his importance now! Not that I’d be unhappy if he kept that up alongside his colleagues it’d be more than an improvement to maintain the sort of form we showed for 70 mins at Wycombe.

Agree But have they had time to gel? Or has the sun been shining enough for the whole squad to feel the warmth. Pigott hat trick, win 6-3

Anyone a cup purist still and wants Cook to go full strength? on 09:17 - Nov 6 with 1139 views | GeoffSentence | I'd likke to see a few changes today, as we can still put out a really strong tem with the options we have and some of those need gme time. Pigott has to start, to give hime game time ready to cover Bonne, Harper, Carrol, KVY, El Miz nd Fraser could also do with starting as well. Maybe Burgess at LB to give some more time there given Penney and Coulson are picking up injuries. I'd keep Walton in goal, he's looking better by the game, need to keep him that going.

Anyone a cup purist still and wants Cook to go full strength? on 09:19 - Nov 6 with 1125 views | clive_baker | The situation we’re in now, with the squad we’ve got, is we can still play a string team and rest some key players. If Morsy, Evans, Bonne, Celina, Burns, Edmundson, KYV sit out we can still bring in Pigott, Harper, Aluko, Fraser etc which is a lovely position. So I would do that, rest a core 6 or 7, still going strong though with a view to progressing.

Anyone a cup purist still and wants Cook to go full strength? on 09:24 - Nov 6 with 1093 views | Dubtractor | I'm a little torn tbh. I always want to see a decent effort in the FA Cup, of course we won't win in, but a bit of a run, maybe an upset against a bigger team, gives us something to get excited about. In the latter MM years (and other managers of recent times) it felt like we were resting players to ensure we could have a tilt at 9th place, which felt like a pointless exercise, and infuriating as a fan. I definitely want us to have a strong team team, but probably not the strongest team. We really are in a position at the moment where we need to throw everything at making sure we claw back the league position ASAP so we are well placed for a post Christmas charge. So lets not play the likes of Morsy or Bonne, but I really wouldn't want to see a whole 11 changed from Tuesday. [Post edited 6 Nov 2021 9:27]

Anyone a cup purist still and wants Cook to go full strength? on 09:24 - Nov 6 with 1093 views | Chrisd | I do, put the game to bed relatively early on and then make the changes. Tuesday, against Colchester, is the game where PC can look to make wholesale changes. If you ask any player they want to play, not train. So play your strongest available XI. We’ve made this mistake in the past and come unstuck.

Anyone a cup purist still and wants Cook to go full strength? on 09:31 - Nov 6 with 1067 views | Guthrum | We're in the unusual - for ITFC - position of being able to do both. For the FA Cup, at least, we can rotate in "fringe" players, such as Pigott, Fraser, Barry, Hladky, El Mizouni, without significantly weakening the team (in the context of the opposition). It's not like the alternative to the current League first choices is fielding a squad of raw youths and much lower quality, as was so often the case in the past.

I don't think we need anymore signings. It would be impossible to find a suitable reserve.

As we're looking a much stronger side he needs more minutes, if we're one or especially two up and in control he needs 25 minutes at least here and there, keeps his eye in and bonne fresher we can't flog him all season, I agree,
Anyone a cup purist still and wants Cook to go full strength? on 10:34 - Nov 6 with 850 views | itfcjoe | Deep down I’d love to see us give it a go, but just know it won’t happen and can’t blame Cook or anyone at the club for that. If we make 11 changes we should have enough about us to beat them today, but often ends up not being the case

Anyone a cup purist still and wants Cook to go full strength? on 10:39 - Nov 6 with 832 views | GlasgowBlue | As somebody who went to Wembley as young teen when we won the cup, I'd consider myself a purist. However, we have a very strong squad with our second string being players who would expect to start for any other league one club. And they are in need of competitive football. So I would play: Hladký Donacien Burgess Woolfenden Penney El Mizouni Harper Aluko Barry Fraser Pigott and still expect to win comfortably.
