Johnson our worst PM in living memory? on 09:36 - Jul 7 with 2083 views | baxterbasics | Well, he fulfilled his main purpose: "Getting Brexit done" But to fall so quickly after winning an 80 seat majority - that's a pretty spectacular balls-up. More so when you consider, around the time he was catching Covid, his approval ratings were solid. It is worth remembering he was never the first choice among his own MPs - it was the rank and file put him there.

Brexit is far from being done, unfortunately. All eyes on the Ireland.

You didn't live during the '70's then? Johnson was a poor leader - but with the levelling up agenda he wanted to help all of England. He failed. Thatcher hated large sections of the country and set about destroying peoples jobs and lives. She succeeded.

It still amazes me that BJ still has his supporters and they believe he's done some very good things in his time at the helm. Obviously, this is all happening now, so it's reactionary but I was interested to see if we could see beyond that and draw those comparisons. [Post edited 7 Jul 2022 9:43]

I’d put Johnson, Cameron and Blair on an equal footing at the bottom of the pile. Is it too much to ask to have a PM (or even an MP) who can actually have some kind of affiliation with the average person in the the street.

Of course it is. But idiots keep voting for Eton educated, Bullingdon club, pig fiddling, millionaires who've never known a days struggle in their life.

Blair was generally pretty successful bar the war in Iraq, a different level of politician to anyone we have had since

Won’t be living memory for many, but yes Thatcher would be the main competition. BJ’s levelling up agenda is a farce and smokescreen; there was no genuine intent. Judging him on his actions and not his words shows he to has been destroying peoples jobs and lives. Thatcher’s damage was more severe to certain parts of the country whereas BJ’s damage will be less severe but affect all of us. Hard to weigh those two up. Thatcher was at least competent, but it’s that old chestnut of whether to step in a dog turd with your left or right foot.

Blair was Mick. Massively successful to start with and then completely lost the plot towards the end to the point he had to go.

I would say Thatcher was the worst, but Johnson was the most corrupt.

He can hide behind how difficult Brexit was and then COVID with these people, who seem to overlook that before either everyone knew he was twice sacked, a serial cheater, a liar, a racist, had been recorded conspiring to get someone beaten up, the list goes on. But they suggest all the issues now are because of Brexit and COVID lol.

Personally, I've heard people who hated Thatcher for all she did, express the opinion that at least she believed in something and at least felt she was doing the right thing for the country. Boris was only ever in it for himself, so by that measure, he's easily worse than her. Cameron as an close 2nd for sparking all this crap.

Sir Alec Douglas Hume was far more useless than any who have followed him, including Boris Johnson. But not many of us are old enough to remember him.
