Wilsonesque even. There were definitely fewer kamikaze passing moments than the last couple of games. Solid 7/10 for me.

A lot of chatter about Burgess before the game. on 11:26 - Aug 21 with 2770 views | jayessess | In general he did well, we were defensively unruffled throughout, his passing was generally decent. In the debit column: on occasions him being a stopper rather a ball-player led to us conceding territory and set pieces, which was the only way Shrewsbury were ever going to threaten us.

It's very, very quiet.

I think his distribution has also improved, perhaps due to McK.
A lot of chatter about Burgess before the game. on 12:34 - Aug 21 with 2511 views | clive_baker | Think he did as you would expect, solid enough and very commanding in the air. I think it was a nice day at the office for the back 3, Shrewsbury were as unthreatening as we’ve seen this season. Burgess frustrates me at times, a couple of occasions where he could stand his man and feels the need to go through the back of them. One early on the centre spot but the one right at the start of the second half was stupid. I could imagine KM in the dressing room at half time saying don’t give them anything cheap, no set pieces, then that in a dangerous area a minute after the break. All players make mistakes but I do feel with Burgess he’s a bit of balls up waiting to happen but in his defence, you could’ve argued the same about Woolf and Edmundson on Tuesday.

Yep the start of the second half was definitely his lowlight!

It was just stupid. 1 minute after the restart when you’re 1-0 away and he does that 20 yards outside the box in a perfect crossing position. I felt a set piece was the only way they were going to score, if at all. Perhaps it’s a little harsh but I don’t really trust him. That’s the litmus test really isn’t it. I trust JD and trust Edmundson. With Burgess I’m always a little nervous.

And you could perhaps argue the same about JD yesterday. He didn't seem his usual self and lost possession with loose passing on several occasions leaving him out of position. He also didn't look his normal rock-like self in the second half when attacked down the left. But the really good thing about our defence is that if someone makes a mistake, one of the others or Walton will usually make up for it. [Post edited 21 Aug 2022 12:50]

A lot of chatter about Burgess before the game. on 12:51 - Aug 21 with 2415 views | Illinoisblue | Didn’t have a lot to do. Mostly reliable and solid. No issues although tougher teams await - Shrewsbury were awful. How did Burgess get that head injury? Didn’t see what happened on iFollow

Crafty elbow challenging for a header.

What did we think the logic was for swapping Burgess for Edmundson?? on 13:04 - Aug 21 with 2357 views | unstableblue | I love Edmundson, quality player. But his form has been a bit wobbly, and his last few games had some errors… but in a way Wolfenden has been worse Did Burgess come in due to better physicality and aerial strength? Or was is Edmundson form? Certainly what is pleasing about yesterday is that players seem to be able to swap into the system very effectively… without disrupting our patterns

Why ask me? I've been clear on my opinion of him as were many others (who you don't call out). He played well, nearly a huge distribution mistake when he tried to play first time in the first half (very similar to what people were criticising Edmundson for) but in general he did well but wasn't really tested in regards to being closed down quickly. Long may it continue. It doesn't change my opinion on him at all though or that Edmundson is a far better player. Maybe you should try and use some nuance occasionally. SB

Two or three poor choices but overall a good performance. Accrington will be the litmus test as the transfer window will be over. I have a feeling about Edmundson. He seemed distracted on Tuesday and there have been rumours about interest.

I miss the days when all the 'I'm not right wing, I'm not even political' trolls got weird obsessions about me. I say 'miss'. I mean 'I don't at all miss those days but I still wonder what it is they get out of it'.

Heaven forbid one has a different opinion to them. Doubly so if it's backed up by evidence. SB
