I don't get the Burgess "chatter". Maybe it is because I didn't really see his games last season, as I was settling in to a new country. So far this season Burgess has played 2 games and Edmundson has played 4. Within those games Burgess has made 4 tackles and Edmundson has made 3. Burgess has won 8 aerial duels, Edmundson has won 7. Burgess' passing accuracy has been 83.6%, Edmundson's has been 78%. Burgess has made 4 interceptions, Edmundson 5. Burgess has made 3 clearances, Edmundson 4. Burgess has committed 5 fouls, Edmundson 4. Stats are stats, interpretations are interpretations. It is easy to initially say Burgess has generally done more in the games his been involved in. But we were in total control against MK Dons, winning the ball back further up the field through midfielders, attackers and wing backs. So not considering this does Edmundson a disservice. Passing accuracy is interesting. Edmundson's passing is worse over the four games. But we know is passing accuracy (61.2% from 49 passes) was dreadful in the Burton compared to his normal standards. However it was 94.3% from 53 passes against FGR. Take the Burton anomaly out of the running and his accuracy rises to 83.6%. Exactly the same as Burgess across his 2 games! From what I've seen so far this season, I don't think there has been much between them, which is good. We want strength in depth and he seems good enough to help us get out of this division.
