Annoying as it is to throw away a 2 goal lead 17:06 - Sep 17 with 1759 viewsclive_baker

And raises those niggling doubts in my mind about that soft underbelly still, but 2-2 isn’t a bad result away to Wednesday. Draws in games like that are absolutely fine, especially considering other results. Still unbeaten, although still to beat a Barnsley / Sheff Wed / Bolton. Consistency against the bottom half is brilliant, and no cause for concern yet, but I would love 4 points from the next 2 just to get that monkey off the back nice and early.

Take it, move on.

I really don't think we have a soft underbelly at all.

That's a game we would have easily lost just last season.

For me...that's simply football....it happens.

Seems a chuck away but I said a draw, we do need to beat a top six side, Bolton coming back again, not to many draws please,

Out of interest when was the last time we came back from two or more goals down to claim at least a point?

Exactly this.

As it goes we played a team that’ll finish in the top four, possibly top two. They’ll be over the moon to get a point and we are very disappointed to drop two. That tells us how far we’ve come.

We are not going to play well every week and there is room for improvement - and we are still top of the division.

If we stay unbeaten from these three games, that is absolutely fine, providing we continue getting the points we should against the 'lesser' teams.

We should have had a third against Barnsley, and Sheff Wed's second was offside. Can we really say soft underbelly?

We've played three of the top six in our first nine games, we're top of the League, undefeated, highest goal difference, most goals scored, least goals conceded, and on track to finish with 107 points.

Today was disappointing, because we were in a great position. But I don't see the soft underbelly. I see two bad reffing decisions preventing us from having a 8-1-0 record.

It’s about as relaxed as I’ve ever been about giving up a 2-0 lead - obviously it’s a shame but that’s a hell of a fiendish assignment and we’ve come out unscathed. Will absolutely take it and it suggests we really won’t lose many games this season. As you say, drawing with the top teams is not a problem.

And it possibly wouldn’t have happened if the lino had been awake. It was always likely to be close.
It’s obviously gutting that we missed the chance to gain 3 points over Pompey in the last few minutes, but we can’t control the officials or what Pompey do.

There's a lot of irony in the fact that there fans demonised the ref and linos all game for the ref and lino to effectively gift them a win from a goal that was clearly offside

Did we give it up? Or was there an obvious illegitimate "goal" scored against us.

Without having seen the match, from the radio commentary it does sound as if the fans affected the referee.

It’s 8 months and about 30 games since we’ve been 2-0 down to anybody, so I’m not entirely sure what your point is here.

I think the Keogh introduction was to try and calm things down a bit... Didn't work out 100%. But at least we've got a manager who tries to address things as they happen..
"Soft", is probably the wrong wording imo.. But I think a bit of panic set in. Some calmer heads needed in the heat of the battle.
I'm happy with the result.. There's always "what if's" in football. But we are taking something , from games that we would have let slip away not so long ago..

Or under Lambert. Other than the months under Cook, our defence has been pretty solid at this level.

As I said, it's an out of interest question more than anything. We couldn't score in our relegation season so could it be Mick's last season when we last came back from more than a goal down?
