Daniel Hannan, along with Lord Frost and John Redwood are now claiming that the pound dropped due to the prospect of a Labour government. The fact that it happened in the hours after Kwarteng's announcement is just a coincidence presumably.
I'm almost impressed that Hannan has managed to write an article more ridiculous than his "Coronavirus won't kill you" offering from 2020.

It's built upon the fantasy that might is right and individual effort will always bring success. Usually propounded by people who have found success, with or without hard work, mostly with the help of circumstances beyond their immediate control (e.g. economic/social stability or unrest, developing technology, having the right contacts, having seed funding behind them). Or those who wish they were them and/or seek to siphon off some of the wealth for themselves.
It's pretty much the opposite of the civilised societies we have been trying to build for the last 7,000 or so years, where the living standards of the whole community are raised by cooperation and integration. | |
