It’s been his aim since day dot. Expect less focus on Ipswich now. He’ll be out in 2024 anyway, or sooner.

For those without FB…

It reads like the worst supporting information for a job application since I once said in an interview that I'd always dreamed about being a trainee chartered accountant. I lasted 6 months..

I remember an old family friend, who'd done very well indeed from setting up an accountancy training business in the '60s saying accountancy had become like the 19th century Church of England - it was the profession for the idiot youngest son.

Knock Hunt for being a vile human being. Knock Hunt for his politics.

But don’t attack and mock him through his Dyslexia. As somebody who knows and works with a person who has Dyslexia, your jibe is the sort of thing that has been aimed at them since they were a child.

My post is not meant to mock dyslexics though I can see how it would be read that way.

I, too, have a good friend who is dyslexic. He was at school in the 1950s when he was thought of as lazy or dim and was placed in what they then called the remedial class. He is now approaching 80 and can look back on a highly successful career as a sound engineer in the recording industry and then as an acoustics engineer.

I also have a nephew and niece with dyslexia. Thankfully, nowadays, dyslexia is usually picked up early and the youngsters have access to appropriate education. But there are still people who see dyslexics as dim or lacking basic intelligence when it is not the case.

There are also people who are not dyslexic but simply bad at reading and spelling. Some of them will say that they are dyslexic because they think it sounds better than admitting that their spelling is woeful. Similarly some who are poor at basic arithmetic will claim 'number blindness'.

My post was intended as slightly humerous suggesting that Hunt is looking for an excuse. On one hand dyslexia should not be a bar to high achievement; on the other it is perfectly possible to be dyslexic and dim.

Hunt claims to be dyslexic and dyspraxic. FWIW, I think that he probably is dyslexic and dyspraxic; I also think that he is pretty thick.

The office was on Princes Street and instead of sorting through shoe boxes of receipts from farmers I spent the time watching Giles the cartoonist in his office over the road. Still, 25p a day in luncheon vouchers was not to be sneezed at.
