Bellingham is the next big thing isn't he? 19:49 - Dec 4 with 3992 viewsMullet

Stands out a mile in this team for me and has the belief to go with it.

Was impressed with Senegal early doors and Cisse's tactics, really stifled us at times, but now we are flying. Good game if it carries on this way.

Do we have £120 million? Madrid and Liverpool are favourites to land him.

I am guessing he will be the new Man Utd owners marquee signing next summer.

And the rest, after this WC. Whoever gets him ends up with a bargain, whatever he costs, if they can build their team around him for the next 5+ years. What a player he's going to be!

He will be the best British player of all time imo. £200 million is the minimum Dortmund should be asking.

He's a brilliant player and he seems to have the temperament - unlike Gazza, although as fantastic as he is he doesn't have me on the edge of my seat like Gazza did.

Best British player of all time is quite the prediction for a chap of his age.

Prime Skuse holding. Bru and Bellingham playing in front of him. Best midfield of all time.

It's a massive statement but he just has everything doesn't he? He's like a box to box Zidane who can also make a tackle. Obviously injuries permitting, i expect him to be in the top 3 players in the world for a number of years.

I don't think he will ever have the goal scoring ability of Zidane. Maybe like a prime Roy Keane.

His potential is sky-high. De Bruyne is my favourite player to watch, but Bellingham could become better than him in a few years. Him, Pedri and Musiala are the clear standout players under 20.

The quarter final will be so tough. France are better than us in most departments but I wouldn’t swap our midfield for theirs - I know they have injuries but Henderson and Bellingham is a better combination than Rabiot and Tchouameni.

He is already a fantastic player, but looks like he could become a real superstar. Great attitude for one so young too. I think Saka and Foden is terrific as well.

Breezed through the pitch didn't he, shrugging off all challengers.

I went from being a bit blase/slightly bored, to jumping from my seat on that run.

Yeah, we have a few at the moment who make watching England worthwhile.

Be great to see this lot win something - far more deserving than some of their predecessors.

All three are fantastic midfielders but different . Musiala is attacking midfielder who can also play on as a support striker. Pedri is more of a ball playing playmaker with great vision and Bellingham is a box to box monster. Pedantic point: Pedri turned 20 last week. Speaking of age, I found it funny how the old timer Foden praised the youngsters in the team.

Seeing all three in a midfield triangle would be incredible. If Musiala had picked England we might be tournament favourites.

France will be tough. There is no doubt about that.

However, they are not better than us in all departments. They’ve played utter dross and struggled at times. This is a massive if, but if we keep Mbappe quiet then I honestly don’t see a lot of threat. I’d fancy our CBs against Giroud and Griezeman doesn’t look up to it.

Walker has the biggest 90 minutes of his life on Saturday.

The key will be stopping the ball to Mbappe and yes Walker needs to plat as well as he has in the past against him.
Im very confident.

Yeah, perhaps I'm being harsh on us there. Breaking it down, I still think they have the edge but it's closer than looking at the macro picture.

Goalkeeper - France. Would narrowly take Lloris over Pickford.

Full-backs - Equal. Hernandez is better than either of ours but Kounde could be a weak spot to exploit as he's not a natural full-back so that averages out to both teams being level.

Centre-backs - France. Probably our biggest weak spot, as good as our defence has been so far, and they have the best pool of CBs in world football.

Centre-mid: Equal. Rice and Henderson will probably continue as the 2 there, about the same as Tchouameni and Rabiot.

Wingers - France. Ours are strong and Dembele is overrated but Mbappe wins this category all by himself.

Number 10 - England. Bellingham is Mbappe's only rival for the golden ball at this stage. He wins this as long as Griezmann doesn't rediscover his 2016 form.

Strikers - England. As good as Giroud is, he's no Harry Kane.

Interesting point - and not entirely off the mark - but I think we have moved on a bit since those days.

England at all levels - and dare I say sexes - seem to have changed their complete coaching outlook.

Good summary! I think Pickford finds a magical gear for England in big comps and would pick him in my combined XI. Hoping Lloris has a moment on Saturday that opens the door for us.

Yeah could easily go either way. At international level especially, I think Lloris is more low floor high ceiling - his mistake in the World Cup final being an example of that.

Yeah - hear what you say; it's such a shame that Rooney fella never pushed on.

You silly pillock - he only went on to become England's top scorer!
