I think Gamechanger have done relatively well this summer but for me it’s clear we need another striker - why not Simms?
I know he’s only just moved to Coventry but we’re loaded now, aren’t we? Surely a big bid could tempt them into selling up, maybe something like £6m. Then they’d make a quick profit on their original £5m fee.
I’m sure McKenna knows that Simms would be perfect for our style of play and I really wouldn’t rule it out. Has something like that ever happened before? |  | | |  |

We were 'loaded' under Marcus Evans too, and at the start he splashed the cash. When he realised that there we were no closer to a ROI, the rot started to set in.
Simms would likely have been a coup but this group seems to exercise fiscal responsibility because they are expecting a return on investment by the end on their ownership.
No one should be expecting promotion this season, hoping for it? Sure. When the time comes to spend in the Championship I would prefer it happening in a methodical way rather than the ill-conceived Derby County method.
I predict the plan this season is to consolidate and build a plan for a firm promotion push next season. To do that we need to know what level the team we have can perform at in the Championship. Bringing in someone like Simms on a costly punt could have created an imbalance to the team in terms of quality, for example.
In short, I think that this season will be a season of leaning and discovery for GC20, expect bigger things next summer if we don't go up. [Post edited 27 Jul 2023 8:50]
