Really pleased for Jackson 16:48 - Aug 12 with 2819 views | Enigma_Blue | He maybe limited in terms of ability but his pace is a real asset, never gives less than 100% and is a top bloke to boot.

Really pleased for Jackson on 16:57 - Aug 12 with 2734 views | J2BLUE | McKenna doesn't seem to think he's limited. Clearly part of his plans. McKenna has spoken a lot about attributes of players. Jackson has many and is a very solid squad player.

Limited doesn't mean he doesn't have any attributes, I meant limited in ability compared to other attacking players in the squad. I have always quite rated him and scoring today should do his confidence the world of good.
Really pleased for Jackson on 17:21 - Aug 12 with 2559 views | ITFC1977 | It’s obvious McKenna sees something in him. He has all the attributes and with a good coach, which we have, he may be the surprise of the season as he ticks every box ( attitude, pace, desire)
Really pleased for Jackson on 17:28 - Aug 12 with 2484 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | Has received so much unfair criticism. When we called upon he works his nuts off and provides something nobody else in our team can. Relentless running, pressing, and some good hold up play today. Fans around me sighing when he came on. Hope all of them are saying sorry in their heads. A great servant for ITFC.

Really pleased for Jackson on 17:29 - Aug 12 with 2465 views | Herbivore | Even without the goal that was an excellent shift off the bench from him, and the goal was the icing on the cake. His pace really unsettles defences, he works insanely hard, and he's not bad at using the ball when he finds half a yard. Considering he's struggled to play that 9 role at times, he was superb when he came on today.

Really pleased for Jackson on 18:01 - Aug 12 with 2367 views | Mookamoo | He'll begrudgingly get a pass for a few days and then people will resume writing him out of their squad lists. The strength we have at the moment all comes from McKenna. Jackson, and to an extent Harness are coaches players. They work hard and do what has been asked of them. They might not be the new world beating shiny new players some want to see at the beginning of the season, but there is trust there which goes a long, long way. [Post edited 12 Aug 2023 18:02]

It was clear you weren't being negative and I think you were actually complimenting him really. Yes I think Jackson said it best himself when he said McKenna was so refreshing because all he ever focussed on was what Jackson can do (his assets) and not what he can't do.

Really pleased for Jackson on 18:20 - Aug 12 with 2244 views | pointofblue | I was concerned about Ladapo coming on for Hirst, as I thought we'd lose something up top. In hindsight, Jackson was the obvious choice but credit to McKenna for going with it and Jackson himself for taking advantage.

Really pleased for Jackson on 18:43 - Aug 12 with 2164 views | BloomBlue | I was surprised to see him come on but within a couple of minutes he had bombed past a couple of Stoke players and you could immediately see the Stoke defenders going slightly deeper because of his pace.
Really pleased for Jackson on 18:51 - Aug 12 with 2132 views | wkj | One thing Jackson has done consistently, and did it again tonight, is pull backlines out of shape. Not only is he fast, but he is also smart off the ball. He may not be a 20 goal a season striker but under McKenna he's a totally different player

I think that's precisely why McKenna likes him so much, it's a team game and he's a real team player, often making the space for others to play. He's a great option to have, especially late in the game and am happy to see he got a reward with a goal today.

Really pleased for Jackson on 19:23 - Aug 12 with 2041 views | Herbivore | Also worth a small nod to the nous of McKenna in bringing him on up front. Hirst was goosed and needed to come off but rather than go more like for like and bring Ladapo on, he spotted how much space there was in Stoke's half and trusted in Jackson even though he's sometimes struggled in that 9 role. He got it absolutely spot on. [Post edited 13 Aug 2023 6:51]

Really pleased for Jackson on 21:57 - Aug 12 with 1873 views | Jimmy86 | One thing I've also noticed about Jackson, is that his delivery into the box has improved massively! McKenna clearly rates him and pretty much has done from day one... Good on him for resurrecting his town career the way he has done...
Really pleased for Jackson on 22:42 - Aug 12 with 1802 views | Dubtractor | Lots of focus on his attacking contribution today, rightly, but his 'defend from the front' work was also critical. He presses like a man possessed and stops anyone at the back being able to start moves off.

Jackson has always delivered well from out wide since the early Lambert days, the idea he never had any end product that some hold is pure fiction.
Really pleased for Jackson on 23:17 - Aug 12 with 1730 views | Daninthecampo | If Jackson can become a viable option as a no 9 instead of Hirst and Freddie that will be a massive bonus for the team, no defenders like players with genuine pace

Really pleased for Jackson on 06:41 - Aug 13 with 1436 views | PioneerBlue | I will put my hand up, his continued emergence under KMcK is quite amazing. Even last season there were times when I would look at this position in the squad and wonder if there was not someone else that could add more contributions for goals, or assists, or offer more defensive attributes. He was one of a selection of low end performers for me albeit KMcK seemed to like what he did, and would be on the list of players to replace alongside, Keogh, KVY, Edwards, However, what was more clear to me when we started seeing close up the relentless pressing by Sunderland, there could be a squad place for a super-presser that KJ has become. Then today he completes the 360 degree turnaround and serves that role from the front saving Hirst and Freddie. He does the same in the week from the Wes Burns role. I’m sold for now.

Indeed, he got loads of assists in our first season back in League 1. He's always had good delivery from out wide, he's just getting into good positions more regularly now in a more effective side and playing with more belief.

It depends who you’re comparing him to. He’s different from our other attacking players - more direct , more of a runner in behind. But he’s certainly not lacking quality. He never has. I suspect playing with support around him make a massive difference. In the not so good old days, he’d have more to do on his own.

Really pleased for Jackson on 07:40 - Aug 13 with 1307 views | BlueOura | He put in a great shift when he came on. If anything this league may actually suit Jackson more than league 1 as far fewer teams will sit deep and park the bus. I quite like the fact that teams are trying to get on the front foot and dominate us, because the more they do that the more space they leave for us to counter in, which suits a number of our players.
Really pleased for Jackson on 07:44 - Aug 13 with 1301 views | BlueBoots | Thanked Jackson for his contribution to our squad in a post before the Bristol Rovers game, but no harm saying what a great job he did coming off the bench yesterday; led the press, great running off the ball, gave us an outlet, and deserved his well taken goal. Like JD, he's been with us since the bad times so I love that they're getting a chance to be a part of things now we're on the up! I effin' love our squad by BlueBoots 9 Aug 2023 19:15Seems like an appropriate day to write this post, as quite a few players are making their first appearances of the season this evening.
Having read a few posts on here straight after a hard fought win at Sunderland, was a bit disappointed with some of the reaction (Highlight for me was a thread along the lines of "What have we learned from today's match?", to which one of the replies was that Edmundson and Jackson need replacing...[doh])
Can't remember if it was the same thread, but other posters thought we needed to bin off JD after the game because he gave the ball away a couple of times and didn't stop the cross that came into our box for their goal (at a time when he was probably seeing 2 footballs after being clattered by Hladky and starting to cramp up too). Few digs at Hladky's performance too; most of which seemed to be based on the fact that he isn't Walton. Already mentioned on another thread, but Hladky's reaction at the final whistle is already going into my highlight reel for the season; for me he's done what all good No.2 keepers do - train as if you're going to be playing every week anyway, and if the opportunity comes along to fill in, come in and do an outstanding job.
I think it's fair to say that Walton and Clarke would have likely played if available, but they weren't; just wanted to say how incredibly lucky we are to have players as good as Hladky and JD to step up when needed.
K McK / Ashton have alluded to our transfer policy being to bring in players who are an upgrade on what we have; could it possibly be the reason we aren't seeing signings is because we already have some damn good players (and people) in the building?
So cheers to Edmundson and Baggott who will get chances to fill in for a pair of centre-backs who contributed to a ridiculous run of clean sheets at the end of last season, Evans and Harness who helped us to get off to a flyer at the start of last season, and Ball and Aluko who have come back from injuries to bring their experience at this level to the group for a new season (on and off the pitch) To Jackson for making life hell for any left back who stupidly leaves a few yards of space empty behind him (despite the fact he'd probably prefer to be playing as a centre forward) To Edwards, who is probably desperate to start games, for coming off the bench so many times instead and making tiring opposition defenders wish they were heading in the opposite direction. And lastly to my favourite player Greg Leigh, who I was looking forward to seeing last season after watching the pre-season friendlies, only for us to sign one of the best young left backs in the country a few weeks later; with the kind of shifts our full-backs put in, 9 subs allowed on the bench, and 15 minutes of injury time looking to become the norm in matches, I hope to see more of you this season.
