Tuanzebe discuss... 20:57 - Nov 29 with 8191 views | WicklowBlue | Not knocking Wolfie, and Millwall are not pressing us anywhere near like West Brom were. But so far Tuanzebe has been imperious, sharp passing, getting stuck in, some pinged long passes and some nice close touches and spins.
Tuanzebe discuss... on 20:58 - Nov 29 with 5293 views | FrimleyBlue | Hasn't even got into 2nd gear yet. This level is so below him. If we've managed to sort his body out we've one heck of a defender.

Tuanzebe discuss... on 21:01 - Nov 29 with 5270 views | Swansea_Blue | I thought his passing can be a bit suspect at time. His technique is good, but he’s played at few hospital balls that result in turnovers and put us under pressure. That’ll come though. Overall he’s looking solid and composed. You can see his pedigree.

I don't think his passing has been sharp, it's been fine but he does seem to roll the ball across the defence rather than pinging it. He's been fine against a very limited attack so far though.

Agreed I took a risk at the h/t post! Overall thought he did well, maybe the blue tinted glasses but didn't see serious hospital passes. Looser in the second half but there is a serious player in there. If can keep fit and get minutes in.

I think his body is currently being managed to the maximum to make sure its not stressed with game after game, its why I wouldn't be at all surprised if Woolfie was back Saturday with Axel the back up sub. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I do think we might get to the point where Tuanzebe plays against the tougher opponents, on paper, and Woolfenden the easier. But as you say, I think we’ll use him sparingly due to his injury record.

Tuanzebe discuss... on 22:45 - Nov 29 with 4567 views | BigCommon | He's a class above our other CB's... He looks confident, calm, composed and dominant.. His first touch, the way he moves, and he's a specimen. I'm pretty sure he takes the pressure off of the two MF's a bit. You can tell they looked reassured with A.T. behind them.. Need to see him in a "backs against the wall" kind of game , to pass full judgement... But he looks a class act from what we've seen of him, so far..Imo.
Tuanzebe discuss... on 22:46 - Nov 29 with 4503 views | FrimleyBlue | Can anyone remember the special training regime that ledley King was on.. He didn't have the body for football but they managed him to do it.

Tuanzebe discuss... on 22:48 - Nov 29 with 4515 views | Herbivore | Thought he did well but under very little pressure or threat from Millwall. Looks a fantastic option to have and if we keep him fit he'll be a player. Doesn't use or carry the ball quite as well as Woolf but looks composed. Happy that we have him here, very good signing on a free.

Tuanzebe discuss... on 22:49 - Nov 29 with 4503 views | NthQldITFC | He's class, but so is Woolfy, very similar players who make so much time for themselves with their positioning and reading and calmness. Axel may have a bit more pace and be a bit stronger, but there's not much in it. Woolfy not had the injuries. Both would be fine at a higher level. Baggott looks like he's cut from similar cloth, and to be fair Burgess does these days too to a large extent. Remarkable improvement in Burgess, and he's also physically as strong as Tuanzebe or more so. We are very well stocked for centre backs. Having said that we need a bit more authoritative communication and decision making at times, witness the goal against today where Burgess really should have cut it out. Don't know if Davis released him to go for it or not, but he certainly could have done. Not knocking him, he's been brilliant.

I'd raise you a certain Paul McGrath with managing his knees. Look being honest not going down that route....but Tuanzebe has quality if he can keep getting repeated managed minutes.
Tuanzebe discuss... on 22:56 - Nov 29 with 4388 views | Nutkins_Return | It's interesting you start with "Not knocking Wolfie" because I felt a bit like that. I said to non town fans I think Tuanzebe will come in for Wolfie (not Burgess as others have mentioned). Tuanzebe is definitely a right sider and balance is better. It feels wrong to even suggest Wolfie might get dropped. It's not really through any huge fault of Wolfie (quality player) but Tuanzebe is different gravy if up and running. Pace is ridiculous. Does Luke no harm as well to have some pressure. His laid back nature is his strength and his weakness. People will take exception, and maybe has zero effect on performance but last game against West Brom in tunnel you had focussed faces and then Wolfie sat down leaning back on a radiator or something smiling. I just get the impression little details like that would irk McKenna. Could be wrong. Wolfie has all the tools bar maybe great pace. He'll hopefully have a brilliant career with us and play in the prem one day. But he'll have to earn it not get it because he's a town boy.

100% this thank you! This is exactly why I started my post as I did. Two different games, two different players and different trajectories. Horses for courses, I agree that Tuanzebe needs further time and minutes. Squad competition is essential.

Thing is. Despite his injury record he has played championsleague level football. Whenever wolfy is out and tuenzebe is in.. wolfy will learn.

It's going to be really interesting....as above if Tuanzebe can maintain his fitness he will be a serious contender for a starting position. (Side note: Burgess really impressed me tonight) Tonight was Tuanzebes first 90 correct? The remaining 2023 games will tell us more about KM's thoughts on his CB's.
Tuanzebe discuss... on 23:45 - Nov 29 with 4031 views | eddiespearitt03 | Good healthy competition for a team place.Tuanzebe certainly is an accomplished defender. Did not have much to do Millwall though. I think Ipswich are a stronger team with him in defence. A dam good footballer.

I would like to see Elkan given some game time too Between burgess and davis we conceded again so even if Axel can stay fit we still need more coaching or tweaking

Honest question, as I don’t think you’ve ever been a fan of Woolfenden. Do you think we should look to sell him on and bring someone else in? Apologies if I’m wrong but it’s always appeared to me that you think we could do and should do better (Tuanzebe aside). [Post edited 30 Nov 2023 1:42]

It was his 3rd full 90. 1 game in the cup, 1 away to Rotherham, and 1 tonight.

I do find so many go too much overboard with Wolfie. Often hear that he's a "Rolls Royce " defender. And that hes PL quality already. He's doing well, but he's still got a way to go. At times, for me, could be stronger and can switch off. Bit disrespectful to Burgess that so many felt he must make way for Tuanzebe. Both Wolfie and Burgess are doing well in an attack- minded team, but looking forward to what Tuanzebe may bring. Wolfie will get his chance again, but he's not a cert in the first eleven.
