You know what, we are going to be ok this season 21:54 - Sep 21 with 5366 viewsKeno

Early days, but the spirit and resilience are there and given a few more weeks things will begin to click

Could do with a win very soon as we are going to need 10 wins I suspect out of the remaining 33 games. Sounds easy on paper but it’s going to be very tough to achieve that in reality.

36 draws should be plenty.

The only worry is this is a 38 game season and not a 46 game season.

Need a win under the belt soon, hopefully one against Villa or West Spam, but probably will come after the next international break.

I'd have settled for 5 games gone and being 2 points clear of the bottom 3.

I do feel that we may have left 4 points out there though and maybe that deadline striker signing could have aided that.

We really could do with getting a win pretty soon. Wolves and Everton have certainly threatened victories recently despite very slow starts.

If this bunch of goal-shy strangers is given the chance to click. Franchise form suggests 6-8 more coming in through the revolving door during the mercenary recruitment window at just about the time some sort of understanding might have been reached.

Town’s luck can’t hold forever and the run of somewhat streaky draws will soon turn into a run of narrow defeats. How the vast squad (and toddlers on here) respond will be what defines the season.

Well we could be OK, but not sure how that game was evidence of that.

We had the spirit to get that equaliser, granted - but not sure we put enough together to be that convincing. We really are going to have to improve a lot. Especially, in the final third.

Much has been made of O'Shea ( because McKenna had the audacity to replace Woolfenden), but main area we need to sort out is creating more chances and putting them away. It's the 10 and wide left/right combo we need to prioritise.

No need to panic, but we can't keep saying we're going to be OK when we don't win.

You know, I think you are getting better at churning out this nonsense.

I admire your persistence if nothing else. Sometimes you sound a bit too chatGPT but less often these days. How do you judge the line though? If you don’t go in very hard everyone ignores you, if you dial it up you get laughed at.

I think we are probably about par with realistic expectations up to this point. I would have thought most people expected us to lose against Liverpool, Man City and Brighton and would have seen 4 points out of Fulham and Southampton as a decent haul. As is stands we are 1 point short but find ourselves 2 points clear of the relegation zone.

I wouldn't say we have to improve a lot. We need to build that understanding up in the final third (which will come) and be a bit more clinical with the chances and half chances we get.

Created several decent chances yesterday. Hirst could have scored twice, Davis had a good chance, Szmodics had a good chance, Ramsdale pulled off a very good save to deny Omari.

Interestingly, in that 3-2 win against Southampton last season we had the exact same number of goal attempts and shots on target (13 and 6) and had a similar xG, but we took two half chances with Davis and Broadhead.

Not trying to be doom n gloom and also it was an important point in the end BUT we're not going to be playing Southampton every week. They are about as weak as opposition as we'll see.
Yes, I do think we'll improve as a team with so many new players, but I'm not sure how much and actually how much we'll need to. We're all new to the PL as fans - so going back to the OP - I think it's a bit early to start saying we'll be OK. But as long as we give it a go and show character- then I'll take whatever comes.

We certainly are. Everything suggests we are moving in the right direction. Yesterday was a tough game, but they are all going to be tough games. McKenna will get his and the players heads around it. Think it will be tight at the bottom, but think we will be fine.

What on earth do you or any other Norwich fan know about what it takes to survive in the premier league?

I can tell you one thing. We won’t roll over and have our bellies tickled like your pathetic bunch did.

I do think that going on long unbeaten runs - even without getting many wins - will be an important key to survival. What often dooms relegated teams is the inability to keep the points total ticking over, thereby losing contact with the teams above them and facing an insurmountable gap as games rapidly run out in the shorter Prem season. One point per game is very likely enough to ensure survival.

We've even been able to keep our GD within reasonable limits, despite facing a rampant Haaland in City's own lair.

Luton had spirit and resilience last year too. We've more quality than them so I'm confident we'll at the very least come closer to survival then they did, but I think its too early to say whether we have enough quality to stay up.

My thoughts exactly. We need to get a win under our belts, Villa at home isn't easy and West Ham need a home win desperately and will be looking at us as there big chance to put it right.

I also have a sneeky fealing we will be OK. Looking at Brentford last year as a comaprison who ended up safely with 39 points against the games we ahve played (Replacing Southampton with Sheff Utd) they only took 1 point against Fulham so we are alraedy 2 points ahead of that curve. In looking at equivalent fixtures they lost the next 4 so until we start to fall behind their runrate and/or lose touch at the bottom I am confident although a win would definately incraese confidence with the players.

We played West Ham in pre-season just over two years ago (starting team included Ball, JD, Penney, Ladapo, Aluko, replacements were the likes of Harper, Evans and Leigh) - result was a very narrow defeat - think we are a bit stronger now :)
