Is anyone a little concerned that we face the final 15 games with the squad we have? (Appreciate there is time to add a couple of others still - but worse case)

Because at present this squad sees us sitting 19th, with 3 wins to our name, and 21 goals scored, in 23 games.

I know ‘bla bla negative’ but that’s the hard truth of the current situation, isn’t it.

We have needed another genuine number 9 option since the summer and now seemingly we will be left hoping that ,Delap doesn't get suspended and Hirst doesn't get injured again.

It is, but for some reason I am filled with optimism. Every year we have had a good January then kicked on. We are in a fantastic position. Really we should be adrift like Southampton, but we are not. We are in the fight and what a manager and bunch of lads to fight for us.

What will be will be, but we will beat Southampton, then we will go on a little run! Believe!!!! COYB!

...we are very likely to get relegated.

We have to assume we will get one in before Monday night, it's essentially incompetence from our recruitment team otherwise.

Can I ask, why should we be adrift like Soton?

We’ve spent £100ish million on the squad, and have a very good manager. Not sure why you’d say that? (Happy to be told why you think that tho)

I am concerned, but adding another new player probably won't change that as unless we are going to spend big money the new player will only be a rotational player anyways.

I don't think you are being negative, it's the reality of the situation. We are a newly promoted club who has bounced up from L1 on two seasons. It was always going to be hard.

However bearing in mind all that, we have a great shout to stay up. The squad unity is fantastic and that will help us when others start to lose their head.

I fear relegation, mainly because people will have to leave and the manager will probably go and that will be the end of this great project.

because we have a half a squad that were in league 1 2 years ago. As opposed to Southampton who over last 10 odd years have been an established premier league club who had parachute payments last year.

As we saw wtith Cook when you make so many changes it takes time for it to 'gel' (sorry). But it is a catch 22, you have to invest when you come up and hope it clicks into gear

This season reminds me very much of 1985-86. Birmingham and West brom down and we got involved in a 3rd bottom dogfight with Oxford and Leicester. I remember Oxford and running on the pitch after ian atkins scored off Jocky wilsons backside! Unfortunately the staggering statistic of that season is that we lost 17 of our 42 games 1-0. The reason it reminds me regarding this season is because in both seasons there has been no lack of endeavour. However , we may just not have enough in the tank.

Yeah I feel the same RE the CF situation.

Just feels like we started the season with so much promise, and went for it in games, but of late we’ve looked really flat, and out of ideas.

Couple of fresh faces might change that I guess

I think that’s it for us this month now. Personally can’t see us signing anyone else, although would happily be proven wrong.

Enciso taking the number 9 was a bit of a giveaway for me. I suspect in an emergency they’d use him or Szmodics up top, but would need to find a better way of using them than we did against Newcastle.

Sadly, yes. I don’t think our central midfielders are really good enough for the Prem (except Cajuste), I am also concerned about relying on Delap and Hirst to remain fit, otherwise we resort to Szmodics upfront and we saw how that went against Newcastle.

Burns’ injury is also a blow because I think he offers us something different to Ben Johnson with his pace and ability to get in behind.

All that said, hopefully our new signings settle early and improve us.

I think it's a difficult balancing act between gambling on staying up and not risking the financial security of the club if we don't manage to do that. I still hope we bring a couple more in but it has to take the medium term into account for me and it's a hard sell to get players to come to us in the position we're in.

Not sure about concerned but would feel less nervous if we had another striker in to carry the load up top. Delap (as phenomenal as he's been) is already showing the signs of being flogged and is Hirst enough to take the slack? Doubtful.

Hopefully the attacking midfield area will function a little better now we have the likes of Jaden and Enciso to rotate in but my slight worry is that while we've had really strong run-ins in the past 2 seasons, we'll find it harder to do that this time as other teams' physicality is just another level to ours.

Hard to be too critical overall as the reality is we were always likely to end up with a squad that looks a tad undercooked for this level, but think the lack of another striker signing in the summer has to go down as a failure as it was always going to be tough to find a good candidate in January.

Don't think Wolves or Leicester's squad situation looks any better than it did pre-window either tbh so I think we can take some comfort in that.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Same as me RE the fear of going down.

Seen too many teams go down with players not ready for the challenge of the championship. That said, many of ours are from the championship… so you never know.

Probably all hinges on who we get as a manager when KM goes.

Burns as unfortunate as it is may be a blessing in disguise. Unlike others I haven't seen him offer anything this season, don't want to kick him when he's down but 1 assist and all I have seen is him get pushed off the ball. This injury should mean hutch is back on the right, because he is not as effective in the 10 and enciso moving into the 10. I expect us to be more potent going forward

The way I look at it (which, let's face it, is the right way!) is that we are currently within a point of both Leicester and Wolves, and we are the team which is likely to do the most improving from here, based on additions, McKenna and steeper upward experiential trajectory (SUET!) of our existing players.

The absolute values you mention don't really matter, it's all about the position relative to the three rivals above whom we need to finish.

Not Number 9s, but the additions of Enciso and Philogene have bolstered our attacking options fantastically. I would like a 9, but we are stronger than at the beginning of January, so hoping for survival.

Yeah I think we need a few new faces to give it bit of a lift.

Whether we get them or not I don’t know.

I’d certainly be more confident of staying up if we did.

I think it's worth remembering that it's only 3 games ago that optimism was high in here after the draw at Fulham, and 2 of the 3 games since were probably our hardest of the season.

I do share the concern about not getting another CF, and I will feel a LOT more confident about our survival if we d get one, but I think we need to be careful not to let the last 2 games shape our view too much.

Win on Saturday (and it is prob a must win), and we'll all be feeling optimistic again.

Enciso and Philogene who our fantastic acquisitions have just joined. Godfrey is an upgrade on Clarke at their respective stage in career. Axel is back/Hirst is back. So in no way is it the same squad a cross the season to date.

Reasons to be hopeful is we've dropped 17 point from winning positions and much of those points were very late goals. Small margins and those above squad improvements could be the difference over the last 15 games.

Obviously some potential negatives like Burns injury but that's inevitable over a season.

Going into the season we were favourites for relegation and anything but relegation would be a huge achievement. That's the way to look at this but now we have 15 games to give absolutely everything and see where it takes us.

Hope we stay up. But what is the worst case here. We go down and we have an absolute go with a quality squad minus Delap, maybe hutch a d a couple of others. Will be a hell of a champ squad!!

We've recently lost to a decent Brighton and been spanked by two of the best teams in the league. However, before then, we were full of optimism after the Chelsea and Fulham games and we've improved the quality of the squad since then. We should be reasonably optimistic, if our confidence hasn't been destroyed by the last two games.
