Donkeys' years ago, well, 1996-2000, I had an Alfa GTV ( hard top). Beautiful car, great drive, no mechanical issues. Loved it, but sadly had to get sensible.
Once Alfa produce a modern version, I'm in.

I am sure I have seen them on the road and I'm also certain they weren't driverless. So, in short, yes, someone must drive one.

Yes. Giulietta.

They are renowned for having dodgy electrics, and our Stop/Start eco feature works only when it wants to, and always has.

Loved my 147 2 litre twinspark but always had something wrong with it. When the airbag light came on and no one could fix it (probably was a broken wire in the harness somewhere) I got rid.

Obviously subjective and an awful lot of people share your opinion. I just don't get it. Except for an attractive font on the naming which I dig, the cars themselves really look boring and and just like a Renault or something. Don't see anything particularly stylish about them except for the font. The badge has taken on a 'cool' persona but i don't get it. I think it's just years of them being 'italian cars built with passion that break down'. In reality they are made like every other car but worse.

Mate at work got one and we jokingly said "that will break down'. It must have had 6-7 different fault and breakdowns and he got rid within 6 months and said never again. It was about 5 years old.

I won't touch 'em, because they don't have the arrow on the little petrol pump light on the dashboard to tell you on which side the filler cap is.

Mate of mine got great mileage out of his. Mainly because he would drive it somewhere, something would go wrong and it would need towing back.

I have driven GTVs on and off for 20 years. Currently have a red one with an upgraded 3.2 engine. The V6 is a beautiful sounding engine when revved. Had 6 Alfas over the years.

Reminds me of my mate's old 2.8i Capri, the Dagenham Wheelbarrow, with twin exhausts which came in handy for pushing it home.

(I think he did a fair bit of 'pushing it home' in the back of that car, the dirty swine.)

Last year when I was looking for a new car, I was seriously considering an Alfa Romeo Giuglia Quadrifoglio. They have an insane 510bhp engine in them, derived from a ferrari engine. But in the end, I went with a BMW M4 because I did some research and it seems even today Alfas have reliability issues. Shame, cos I was behind one recently and the burble from those quad exhausts sounded fantastic.

I’ve driven a few of them over years but never owned one. They have style. It’s a bit of a shame they were held together with paper and glue, though I’ve no doubt they’re better these days.

My dad’s brother had lots of them over the years and didn’t care about the build. He bought a brand new Brera some years ago. Red one. Lovely car. On its first trip to one of his houses in York, there was a whiff of petrol so strong the windows were open all the way. When Alfa man checked it, one of the petrol tanks was full of holes. It was a four wheeled bomb. Alfa tried to blame him which was odd and didn’t go well for Alfa given he was a solicitor, but it took weeks to fix. That car spent much of its life being fixed, but he still adored it and bought another.

Each to their own. We all have our favourites and it’s good we are all different.

Noticed in a recent reliability table Alfa did well, BMW didn’t, plus the Alfa would blow the BMW away!

It would you're not wrong, and I do kind of regret not getting the Alfa to be honest. I'm stuck with the BMW til next year so I'll definitely look at the Alfa again.

Breras were known to be not well built. They were actually manufactured not by Alfa but by the Pininfarina design house factory.
