Isn’t he just what we need? Experienced knows the league knows McK would probably be more or less happy with half his apps coming off the bench. I’m not saying he’s Prem quality but he’s be a good replacement for Massimo.

Not really the type of players we sign though. We always favour younger players with high ceilings.

Lewis Travis on 10:40 - Jun 3 with 3962 views | JakeITFC | Seeing as we are probably going to have a four out/four in summer in that department I wouldn't be anti a Travis or Ball type who knows their role and adds experience and grit.

He can't pass any further than five yards. Plus he's a north-west lad through and through.

@ True_Blues 123 Absolutely crucial to blend that with experienced older pros too though. (Not Travis I agree) [Post edited 3 Jun 10:44]

A reasonable player but would only be a squad player here . We need better in our 1st eleven to get promoted. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Lewis Travis on 11:10 - Jun 3 with 3637 views | IPSWICHFANITFC | I didn't mind Travis. I liked that he was aggressive and wasn't shy of putting a foot in or breaking up the opposition attacks. The physicality/nastiness in midfield is something we lack, however, there's plenty better on the ball and I'd be a little underwhelmed if he was high up on our list our targets. His nastiness was needed last season as we were scrapping down the bottom. We were a soft touch sometimes. Though he might've set the new record for most yellow cards in a PL season.

Lewis Travis on 11:19 - Jun 3 with 3553 views | Devereuxxx | I quite liked Travis, as a couple of other posters have said, he gave us a bit of bite that we can be sorely missing at time. Maybe a bit technically limited and you wouldn't want him as our starting CM, but he definitely added something. That being said, I think we only went after him as he was available at the time (loaning the club captain of a club lower than us in the table was all round weird). He's now back in their team under a new manager, so I doubt he'll be looking for half an hour at the end of the game for us this season.
Lewis Travis on 11:42 - Jun 3 with 3340 views | Jon_456 | If we see him play for us next season then it means we’ve failed in securing our targets. Thats not to say he’s a bad player and wouldn’t do a job but the club are aiming much higher than this. We’ll be looking at players who are capable of performing in the Prem.

Yeah, like Conor Townsend, and Sammie Szmodics, and Alex Palmer, and Kalvin Phillips, and Kieffer Moore, and Massimo Luongo… I highly doubt we’d be interested in Travis, but it won’t be because of his age profile [Post edited 3 Jun 11:48]

Lewis Travis on 12:40 - Jun 3 with 2914 views | BondiBlue | Captain material. I'd take him if morsy leaves. I like the idea of downes and cajuste but is one of them a captain? Probably not. With morsy and mass last time in the champ we had two hard-as-nails wily old pros. We lost a bit of that in the prem when mass dropped out. If morsy leaves we absolutely have to replace that particular quality or there's no chance we're going up.

He's 27, not 37. Would have him back personally. As has been said, he knows the club and manager.
Lewis Travis on 12:50 - Jun 3 with 2836 views | J2BLUE | If he doesn't have an option on his contract he's entering the final year so definitely not one to rule out but would we give him a multi year deal? Perhaps we could buy the last year of his contract if he agreed but he would likely want more security especially in his prime at 27. Wouldn't shock me but can't see us giving him the length of contract he would want. He would also be giving up the captaincy and, I assume, a pretty much guaranteed starting place for a place on the Town bench.

Lewis Travis on 13:05 - Jun 3 with 2740 views | Vaughan8 | I think I'd be a bit underwhelmed if we got him back. As a squad player maybe but without being harsh, he's an average championship player and I think we'd be setting our sights on someone a bit better (maybe?). [Post edited 3 Jun 13:07]

Lewis Travis on 13:05 - Jun 3 with 2738 views | JammyDodgerrr | He's obviously a fine player but not sure we should be going for him now. He basically didn't play the first time he was here and our aim should be much higher now.

Not really, we're looking for someone to hopefully transition with us into the Prem, and if we weren't we'd probably looking at a bit higher calibre.
Lewis Travis on 13:33 - Jun 3 with 2532 views | Kev_W | Decent player to have although not as a regular starter. Would help fill the leadership deficit in the squad.
Lewis Travis on 14:02 - Jun 3 with 2406 views | Churchman | I’d have no problem with Travis coming in. He’s no Premier League player but he’s a good championship standard defensive midfielder. If he wanted to come here and the price was sensible, of course. He’s 27 so plenty left. I’m not sure what his injury record is like - the last thing we need is yet another player made of glass.

He's a better than average champ player. Was their best player early part of the season. He did get an injury but came back pretty strong but didn't see much of him after their start. I think we probably are aiming higher now. I think the criteria has to be Prem capable and not sure he is at the right level to step up well. I wouldn't be against it if he was saying one of three and the other two were top class. Good thing is he was slot straight back in and we know his character. Don't see it happening. Thing we are going to bring in 3 top drawer CMs [Post edited 3 Jun 18:54]

For once I agree with you - decent, experienced, hard working squad filler. Controversial perhaps but I’d prefer him over Jack Taylor (still not really figured out what he brings to the table). CM is definitely lightweight with Phillips, Cajuste, and Luongo gone. Think Championship is probably Lewis ceiling, but that’s where we are now…
Lewis Travis on 13:25 - Jun 4 with 1150 views | BiGDonnie | Yup I'd be happy with him, especially if Sammy is off. He'd be a starter in that role and would get better and better.
