I don't feel particularly sorry for them.
UEFA have published their multi-ownership rules for a while, and Palace have taken the money (£90m from Textor), while he still has the majority stake in Lyon.
They took a gamble that it would be found in their favour and lost (although they may still win on appeal). |  | | |

Really harsh on them. Why would they comply with such an early deadline in the season when at that point there is probably less than a 1% chance they would get into Europe? Madness really, and then to promote Forest(who lobbied for Palace to be kicked out) is grim. Hope It gets overturned. |  |

I heard it suggested on the radio this evening that with Lyon having won their appeal not to be relegated from Ligue 1*, it was easier for UEFA to rule against Palace and let the latter appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, who could then try to untangle the situation. So passing the buck rather than necessarily victimising the English club.
* The rules do stipulate that in a joint ownership situation, whoever finished higher in their league gets precedence. |  |

I don’t really have any sympathy for the club itself as they knew the rules in advance and didn’t abode by them. harsh as it is. Feel for the fans, but the fault lies with the club, and the owner. But, Forest have come across as being huge whingers. Also, if this is the rule, fine, but seemlessly does not apply to Man City - haven’t they competed in the same competition as clubs their owner also has shares in?
