Balkestein Joins Brentford
Balkestein Joins Brentford
Friday, 20th Nov 2009 10:06

Boss Roy Keane has revealed that central defender Pim Balkestein has joined Brentford on a month's loan.

Keane said: “I've got Alex and Damien and with Gareth McAuley and Tommy Smith fit again, we gave Pim the opportunity to go and get some games.

“It'll do him the world of good but we look forward to him coming back, obviously sharper for the benefits of playing league football.”

Bees boss Andy Scott was delighted to make the signing: "We are very fortunate to have been able to take Pim on loan.

"He has played against us for Ipswich in each of the past two seasons pre season friendlies and he likes the way we play. I believe he will be a very good signing and help improve the squad still further."

Does this mean Roy has someone lined up to come in at centre back? Or is it just an indicator of how he doesn't rate Pim,,,?

No positional sense, always falls over, what another wonderful superdim signing, just like all the others he bought and has not bothered coming back for.

One of the biggest hoofers I've ever seen.

But not too much else to his game at present. Hope he does well on loan, but suspect that he's not really up to the Championship.

I think he is one of our better central defenders really he should have put either mcauley or smith on loan
Pim is quite tall and so i think we miss his arieal present when hes not playing also he gets up field to help support our strikewrs and has created quite a few goals this was definatley a wrong decision to me

Hah..you lot make me laugh..last season he was a cult hero..how long before you start turning on Pablo?
Will do Balkestein good to get away from PR & get a few games under his belt - he has potential but needs the right guidance - won't get that from Keane i'm afraid.

Lightningboy, I was reading your post, and found myself agreeing with you, nodding my head and thinking "blimey i agree with him", then you go and spoil it all with your daily/hourly "pop" at Keane.

We all know your POV, you dont need to keep putting it at the end ogf every post!

THIS IS A STRANGE MOVE AS WE HAVE ONE OF THE SMALLEST SQUADS IN LEAGUE THOUGHT ONE AREA WE STRUGLED WITH IS IN CENTRE DEFENCE?

...but it's so easy & enjoyable injuredanimal..it's the only thing that's getting me through this POXY season to be honest.

It's upto good old Roy to make me change my opinion of him & not your goodself..thanks anyway.

Absolutely no positional sense and no pace with poor distribution. I doubt he will cut it at Brentford either but hope he does OK. As previous posts another fantastic Magilton signing !!!!

He was signed for a minimal fee as a young squad player ,no different to Troy Brown .Will be good for him to get some games in a team not under pressure

I've seen no evidence to suggest that he's much more than a big, brave lad who can boot the ball miles. He may develop into something more than that - but we need quality defenders right now - not in a year or twos time.

I wish him good luck at Brentford.

If that's the only reason your slagging keane off your a sad sad man lightining boy

I think it will do pim some good he needs games at a descent level and hopefully he will get that at brentford coz he certainly isn't getting that playing in the Mickey mouse reserve league

Pretty good player - hell of a pass on him. He's not there yet, but one day I reckon he'll come good.

Enjoy Brentford.

Good Luck Pim and if your loan gets extended, make sure on the 23/01/10 you get the winner against the scum

If I were Keane I'd be concentrating on the problems at Town rather than opening my mouth about Ireland and getting all over the front of the BBC website

He's definitely 5th in the Centre Back pecking order at the moment so it makes absolute sense to send him out on loan. He didn't exactly cover himself in glory in the 4-0 drubbing against Newcastle so hopefully this will give him an opportunity to rebuild some confidence.

Do you think that is why Wright and Garvan were dropped they let their phones go off at training ? !!
He doesnt like the name Delaney much no wonder Damien looks so nervous !!
Our manager is a very serious man ,who bears no issues over the world cup and Ireland at all
