Pablo Off to Vietnam
Pablo Off to Vietnam
Monday, 16th Apr 2012 13:44

Former Blue Pablo Couñago is close to joining Vietnamese side Đồng Tâm Long An, according to reports in South-East Asia.

Based in the city of Tân An, DTLA were relegated from the Vietnamese top flight last season and are looking to strengthen as they try to bounce back at the first attempt.

Couñago, 32, has been without a club since being released by Town at the end of 2010/11 having spent that campaign on loan at Crystal Palace.

What a waste.....
On his day, he was a class act.

A real shame for someone who was such a naturally gifted player.

Get in there quick, steal him back!

Ole ole ole ole...

Practically giving him and Garvan away was ridiculous.

Just not a Keane player, but then not many were, just the cloggers and those 'streetwise' few. Leadbitter is so streetwise in fact he got himself sent off in the final minute of a game for kicking the ball away, and subsequently missed the next game which we consequently lost because we couldn't keep the ball. That's more or less where our real streak of form started to break down. Roy must have been so proud.

Although the fact that he has been without a club for an entire season probably tells you something about his levels of fitness and attitude towards the game.

We need to get a couple of players in the Pablo mould for next season. Lets see us getting back to passing, attractive football. The early signs are positive, but players like Counago, Garvan, et al are desperately missing at Portman Road right now.

agree Garvan would be a good squad player for us now, loved Pablo in his first stint but think hes lost any edge he used to have now..... a lot of ability, wrong attitude. reminds me a certain Mr Priskin...... Shame, but we move on......

Legend? Do me a favour, Muhren, Thijssen, Mariner, Wark, Beattie..they are legends of the club who went on to win things, Counago was a useless, overpaid waste of space, which is why he has ended up in a Vietnamese second division.

Rosseden I can't believe you actually just tarnished Pablo Counago with the same brush as Tamas Priskin.

Maybe not a legend, but still a waste of talent for a former spain u21 regular.

Scored some crackers. Wouldnt call him a waste of space but should have achieved more. Had the ability.

@hype313 "Counago was a useless, overpaid waste of space, which is why he has ended up in a Vietnamese second division."

So what does that make Beattie who ended up in Swedish and Norwegian 3rd and 4th division?

Rosseden wash your mouth out. Great player totally wasted by RK. Priskin however.....don't start me off.

A player ahead of his time, legend certainly and not appreciated by those who do not understand legend status.............but the with a name like mine I would be biased!

@Crock "So what does that make Beattie who ended up in Swedish and Norwegian 3rd and 4th division?

It made him a European Cup winner finishing his days in another league with bad knees.

Look, I'm always give any player my backing who wears our shirt, however I just never saw Counago as a quality centre forward. Marcus Stewert , David Johnson, Benty, Even Kuqi in recent times were all quality strikers, but Pablo flattered to deceive, for me.

I'm surprised his mate Magilton didn't take him to Australia a few months back.

Without doubt the most natually gifted player we have had in a long time....the only current Town player with as much natural talent is JET.

But not a legend as he just was not consistent enough. Royal and Keane didn't know how to make him play

i spent weeks singing ole ole ole ole pablooooooo pabloooo after the Coventry winner a few seasons back, epic goal and only he could have put that away with such arrogance. Def had the physical ability but lacked the mental ability to be at the very top of his game, but at times his feet were magic! He was a legend in his day, maybe not to compare with legends of old but a name that when said will normally bring a smile or memory to any town fans face.

How can a 32-year-old ex-Spain U21 international go a whole season without a club at any level? I don't remember significant injury at any time. I agree it doesn't say much about him. We were clearly right to release him. A shame for a talented players.
