Abuse certainly but bottles? Give it a rest Mick we ain’t Millwall & you know it.

Shocking that the police made that up really. Was probably just a few lads singing anti McCarthy songs outside the Griffin & they sh1t themselves.

Hilarious that you and Ryorry - two people who weren't there - don't believe it.

yeah, proper funny.

or the fact that I've been to hundreds of games, and will have drank with the blokes standing there..... and I know that not a single one would have been stood ARMED with bottles (bottles that is, one in each hand, in pockets as reserve) to throw at MM.

Read more carefully please. I did NOT say that I didn't believe it, I asked Phil if/how he could read their intentions.

That suggests you don't believe that was their intentions.

Maybe Phil could read their intentions, or possible intentions, because like me he has eyes in his head.

I'm pretty sure the police read it that way too, hence asking Mick to leave by a different exit.

I've no idea why people are defending these morons who bring shame on our club.

I was there and there were some nasty, angry, drunk meatheads who I have no doubt were capable of lobbing bottles at Mick. I also witnessed them being abusive to other Town fans including Brogan and Truce.

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.

"That suggests you don't believe that was their intentions. "

No it does not. Your ability to read into things what was never there is something I often find completely baffling.

I asked Phil a genuine, open question because he was the journalist there on the spot, & over the years I've come to trust him to be fair and balanced. I'm sure he's capable of answering it himself if he wants to (may not wish to get involved in this debate, I appreciate).

Why are you asking Phil how he could read their intentions then?

Just a straight question was it? No suggestion that you think he might be reading something that wasn't there?

I'm perfectly capable of reading nuance thanks. It's pretty clear (from your arrows too) what side you're on in this. You must think people were born yesterday if you're trying to claim otherwise.

I am not on ANYone's "side".

I asked Phil - my actual words "Why describe them as "armed" with bottles? How do you know their intentions? They might simply have been drinking from them? "

Once again I'm baffled by your ability to read into a genuine, open questioning sentence in a genuine attempt to find out what actually happened, stuff that anyone able to read objectively simply would not find there.

You've picked an argument out of nothing, and I have to take my dog to a vet appointment.

Of course, a copper working in Brentford that afternoon, having seen the aggressive antics/chants etc of some of our fans towards McCarthy, wouldn't know that they are actually well-mannered, mother-loving, salt-of-the-earth pussy cats who wouldn't harm a hair on the top of his silver head.

All he can do is see what he sees and act on it.

I know Brentford staff were a bit shocked by the levels of vitriol and he definitely left via a back exit and was escorted to the coach due to fans who were waiting for him, armed with bottles or otherwise.

Phil i have agreed that the abuse was totally over the top but as someone who was accidentally caught up in it i did not see anyone armed with a bottle or otherwise. Are you saying you saw Town fans armed with bottles?

I think there is a difference between being armed with bottles, and people being there drinking with pint (plastic) glasses and (plastic?) bottles.

But I don't doubt from what I've heard that people may have thrown what they were drinking over Mick with the plastic 'glass' or bottle with it. Some of the abuse he got the year before there was well OTT and the police obviously thought best to not go that way in case someone did throw their drink (and it's container) over him.

People clearly weren't there looking to attack him violently with bottles/glasses

100% agreed.

It was the most embarrassing away spectacle I've ever witnessed. Special mention to the young lad who wanted a pop for me telling him to stop giving the w*nker sign to the family section and then melting into the crowd when his mates didn't back him up.

Agenda? Such a weird bloke u

I spent nearly all day (bar the game) with many of this crowd, and at no signal point was it mentioned that bottle lobbing was even considered.

With that in mind, were you by the side of them after the game to see them armed with bottles ready? No you weren’t

Agenda = hating Mick.

No-one says "I'm going to a game to throw bottles at the manager" but it can be a heat of the moment thing... particularly after sinking a few.

Were you with the exact same crowd hurling abuse?

Why were you with them nearly all day but not the game itself?

So many questions, so little time.
