You’re seriously saying we should be grateful that they let us control 40% of our own laws? My god it’s worse than I thought. Wake up ... without this anchor round our ankle we will be so much more profitable as a nation. It will benefit all of us.

It’s not 40%!!!!!

They’re standards on safety, product specification, air pollution, food standards!!!

We need them!!! We share the same seas, same air, same things that we use.

Because that’s who sell the majority of our goods to!!! That we will no longer to be able to trade so without friction.

Fundamental laws are something like 10% -and the UK has MASSIVE influence on them anyway. We are seen as the loudest voice in this regard! And we have vetoed out of the ones we can’t accept!!

Please take time to understand!

Do you have ANY IDEA how much it is costing us to replicate the bodies that we shared with Europe on standards and legislation that BENEFITED us.

The EU laws are not straight bananas - they are in the main, good!

ARGHHHHH!!!!

Very well put Sir.

Dogsh1t.

Invoking a procedure that hasnt been invoked for 300 years, simply to ensure a 'No Deal' departure, with the sole and only motive being the continuation of the Tory party, in the face of Farage's mob.... and that's what this is all about - the survival of the Conservatives, nothing else.

It's not genius. It's borderline tyranny.

Fcuk discussion, fcuk negotiation, fck any form of supposed political acumen - this is what we have been reduced to.

It's tyrannical bullsh1t. Check the definition of tyranny if you like (you won't).

Shakespeare called this out 400 years ago - re: Richard III.

It's not even about Remain/ Leave any more. You're so embedded to the concept of Leave, that this is all just a stupid game of Air Hockey to you.

Meanwhile, anyone vulnerable or skint in this country is about to face at least 2 years of savage, savage times.

But not you, eh?

It’s a genius move. The only way he’s likely to be stopped is via a vote of no confidence, and the gov have made it clear that they will call an election if such vote is lost. Guess what, the PM decides the election date, and there goes the opportunity to thwart Brexit. And Boris will win that election (though a majority is far from certain).

It’s a perfectly constitutionally proper procedure too. The only reason for the hysteria and apoplexy is because remainers see their chance of scuppering Brexit slipping away.

Parliament has had 3 years to navigate Brexit, and has failed to resolve this. They could have another 3 years and they will still reach no agreement. So this is the only way to get it done.

Finally, it robs the EU of their last hope that the ‘no deal’ threat will be blocked. They are now more likely to find some other offer.

Genius.

Not sending them 300 million a week to start with.
Not having to throw half the fish we catch into the sea.
Being able to make our own trade deals
Not having to comply with their strangling employment legislation.
Not having to waste millions on pointless appeals to the European courts.
You’re welcome

That's not evidence.

It's a few sentences. Once again saying something doesn't make it true. Where are the numbers? Where is the analysis?

Some of them are also total nonsense. The first one is just an outright lie:

Clearly not as you're still on here like the rest of us.

It's fine to say you don't have any evidence. Just stop pushing your views as if they are backed by actual substance and facts.

You've been doing it for ages and never respond with actual evidence.

Sigh... Stokie... perhaps time to give up.

Every sound bite (brainwash) point is massively flawed, and indeed could be a statement of a remainer.

What is extraordinary is the lack of understanding of what is happening today in our parliamentary system, our union, and as ever the damage of uncertainty.

That's the worst thing though, he isn't.

Man believes in this dizzy Just William utopian existence post-departure, where we all revert to pounds and shillings, and can get a train to anywhere in the UK, pre-Beeching, for 2 bob, whilst Constable Guthbert apprehends the local vagabonds.

We want to leave the EU? Fine. Don't much care for it, but fine. When the Norwegians decided to stay out, by a vote of 55/45, theuir government acknowledged that subsequent relations with the EU needed to reflect the split in the vote. This isn't whats on the table though, is it?

We're going all-out for catastrophe because Dominic Cummings' dad has got x million quid on Sutton Coldfield becoming a 'tax exile' port post No-Deal. *

They didn’t fight in 3 World Wars to be denied a port in the central Midlands you know!

I can understand why people find this tiring. The mental gymnastics needed to keep up with the bullsh*t and contradictions is quite a drain. The lunatics can’t be left to run the asylum though.

Maybe I'm just giving too much credit then.

I want, like sincerely want, to believe that people aren't this stupid.

Wanting to leave is fine, but say why, sensibly, offer some reasoning.

At least acknowledge what others with real concerns are saying when they offer facts and figures and actual sensible attempts at solutions.

What do we do, though?

You've got absolute cock-knockers like Allison Pearson, braying about how this is somehow a manifestation of democracy (woman has got her tongue so far up Boris, she's inflating his lungs)...

Imagine for one second the roles were reversed, and that doilum Corbyn was pulling this stunt. Telegraph/ Mail/ Express would be in full-on uproar, about treachery/ betrayal/ remoanerism etc etc; look at the grief Gina Miller got when she had the temerity to stand up to this sh1te.

And when the boot is on the other foot - clowns like 26Paz insist that we should all succumb to this guff.

We are in one unholy mess. A bonehead leading us; far too weak to stand up to the money behind him; on the other side, a pipe-smoking Marxist who loves to hear his name sung on a Sunday afternoon at Glastonbury in July.

Can I not just chill with my family in peace without all these dickheads interrupting my afternoons? Apparently not.

EDIT - unruly spelling.

Seriously are you?

Is that what you’ve been sold on?

Firstly - probably at a minimum EU, worst case EU has influenced 60% of our legislation. So we still control 40% anyway. BUT, and this is the big BUT, the majority of that is just basically specification and trading standards, that basically make our biggest market flow. So the REAL figure on fundamentals laws is much lower. Perhaps 15-20%!!!

Also you’re coming from the position that then EU is bad - because Murdoch told his editors to make you think that you bloody idiot.

When in reality the vast majority of EU legislation is GOOD FOR YOU - and breaks short term thinking!!!!

Jeesiz - you and what you have done is a living nightmare!!

Relax man.

Yes, well done.

Today is a proud day for democracy and "taking back control".

At least there is still a long way to go before 31 October and he won't be able to drag us out with no deal.

Just a shame the pound has taken another battering on the basis he seems determined to take us to the brink of it.

Still I presume you are one of the few who can make capital out of volatile currency markets as you are so vocally supportive of everything that causes them.

Many people value other things much higher than money and the value of the pound. Like sovereignty.

The pound will rise unlike the EU which will gladly fall.
