Technically, it is you forcing a view on the animal that you are stuffing down your neck. And from an environmental perspective, you are using more of the earths resources that is necessary.

My wife grows and makes all her own food. She was a veggie for 20+ years before going vegan more recently. I do not see the point in buying imitations. If you want bacon, have bacon. Low fat crisps and chocolate are pointless as well in my book. Eat everything in moderation and take some exercise and all is good. I understand the ethics behind it and support my Wife in her quest (I do not cook anything but chicken in the house), but each to their own. Much like religion. Believe in what you like, just don't ram it down others throats. | | | |

That is an interesting point and it would be interesting to hear answers from some of the vegans on this forum.
I think most of us will take the approach that we respect others choice to make their own mind up.
I personally can't stand people smoking, but I would not preach to others - let them decide themselves what they want. |
So you raise an interesting point.
Smoking was banned in buildings, because of the perceived harm it could have on people that didn’t smoke.
E.g. The rights of some specific mammals to do something un-necessary but something they enjoyed, does not overrule the health of the same specific mammal.
The “rights” of the smoker mammals are not respected, they are tolerated with limits, and those limits are imposed by the non-smoking mammals that would be negatively effected.
So, there are certain things that you can’t impose on a mammal, if it has a negative consequence on that mammal, purely form the sake of your own personal preference.
So if you happen to be a mammal that doesn’t have a voice, or doesn’t have the ability to represent your negative consequences, to the mammal that is imposing their preference, then you need some form of advocate that can represent that negative consequence.
Representing something that doesn’t have a voice or the ability to represent itself does not seem to be to be a thing that should draw the sort of hatred referred to in the article. | | | |

I still struggle to grasp how a scientifically proven better way to live for the environment is no better than anything else personally.
As I’ve said before, veganism is a solution to step in the right direction and not the perfect answer. And most of us are doing it within the present day world where travel, the internet and industrial crop farming is arguably needed. But apparently you are a hypocrite if you use the internet, drive a car, eat food you didn’t grow yourself or fly on a plane (all literal examples I’ve had used).
Veganism has a considerably lower carbon footprint than an animal diet. The fact we still have to debate this is madness. But then again we’re the nation that voted for Brexit and Johnson despite all evidence so there you go. | |

Why shouldn’t a future bio-tech-engineered Borg type species, not exploit humans?
If human mammals are seen as useful to grow for body parts, or turn out to be more fun to hunt, or taste nice, why not have humans held in free range farmed camps?
