Who is writing his speeches? He means "you will" doesn't he?

Boris has not been clear enough throughout for me. His choice of language and form goes before him.

Generally I agree but I don’t think anyone can say tonight’s statement wasn’t crystal clear

What hasn’t been confirmed and I guess will be released shortly is exactly how this will work in practice - eg. Will a form be required a la the French system

He's rightly deserved some criticism in mixed messages before (or at least messages open to interpretation, as proven by the varied responses to them), but you can't get much clearer than this.

Stay at home.

He should have been saying this from the first point they introduced measures.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

There is one problem.

You can travel to work, but you can't socialise with more than 2 people...... but you can go to work and then work on a site with hundreds of people?

No. This is about as leaderesque as he's been and he still seemed like he was stifling a smirk or trying to wander.

Every time I see him speak it's miles away from what's been written in the press. People have been abhorrently selfish this weekend in great numbers, but I don't think he's been strong enough or direct enough previously.

I can see people still testing the reach of this for some time.

He’s crap at having to be serious. The lack of clarity and his inability to come across seriously has wasted so much time.

The general response from the government has been pretty poor, especially when you consider we started with some foresight on our hands.

Not unless that work is essential (to fighting the outbreak, supporting those who are, keeping essential services/activities running, or looking after those in the high vulnerability bracket).

They will. As people did in the ‘30s when told to evacuate. It’s going to be interesting to see how it’s enforced.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

No, any work is ok - as long as you can't work from home.

I suspect a building site comes under a gathering of more than 2 people.

I'm not disputing that I understand it, I've been doing the same for a week now pretty much. But I'm talking about the response it will get from the people who need to hear the message loud and clear.

However, the message of "you must stay at home" followed by here's all the ways not to stay at home seemed the wrong way around to me. Maybe it just feels like he's not done enough in being direct before for me. I just don't see this getting through to some.

Didn’t say it wasn’t. The messenger is the problem. This should have been drummed into the public conscious weeks ago.

Hopefully this is the start of the gov finally getting a grip on things.

If you cannot work from home, then you can go to work. (not retail, except food/medical) Is it really that hard to understand. He was speaking English.
