How is everyone finding the new normal? 09:24 - Mar 30 with 4036 viewsitfcjoe

I'm not struggling too much with it, family enough to keep me busy - and little work to keep on top off so managing that side quite easily

Days feel long though, hard to motivate without the distractions of going out at any point and no time pressures.

Started running again yesterday, will try and alternate between a run and home workout every day

It's the lack of concern with time that's doing my head in - no real reason to get up at a good time but I'm on painting & decorating tasks as of later today.

Went cycling on Friday and did a couple of large-ish hills into a really strong headwind, which was a struggle, and my right knee is quite stiff still. I'll have to forego the exercise for a day or two, which is a shame.

Please note: prior to hitting the post button, I've double checked for anything that could be construed as "Anti Semitic" and to the best of my knowledge it isn't. Anything deemed to be of a Xenophobic nature is therefore purely accidental or down to your own misconstruing.

Painfully dull.

I live on my own and work has ceased completely so thing s are boring to say the least. Keep in touch with friends and family by phone but massively missing the social interactions of football and the pub.

Have been walking 4-5 miles very other day to try and keep some semblance of fitness but his doesn't compare to my former visits to the swimming pool.

I am bored after a week, god knows what it it will be like in another three weeks.

Having to WFH and manage schooling isn't ideal to be honest but it could obviously be far worse (key workers etc).

It's essentially two jobs if you want to make a good job of the schooling and not entirely fair on the kids. Am sure everyone will get used to it over the next few weeks though and it'll obviously be fine in the long run. I think it'll get easier as well as the schools get better at dishing out work and the kids get used to it.

Need to find myself a project for the evenings though and will try and get out for a cycle later on.

*In fairness, I found out a loose acquaintance passed away aged 34 from a heart attack while his mrs was in the James Paggett giving birth to his 3rd child. choker whether you know him or not.

Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry.

We are lucky that kids aren't at school and Mrs itfcjoe is part time at 3 days a week (and WFH) - I'm using the other 2 days to cover work and study so neither of us are having to juggle both work and children which makes it easier

I am okay. I live on my own so fairly used to my own company anyway although have been keeping in touch with people over video conferencing call.

I've started reading (bought a couple of books months ago that there was always something more important to do over reading). Also been going out for a decent walk every day. Life generally can be a bit 100 miles an hour and I've actually enjoyed the slower pace (appreciate it's not as slow for people with kids to school/entertain) - how long that'll last I don't know.

This period will certainly be good for my bank balance and probably my physical health too - don't tend to drink at home but would normally be in the pub a couple of times a week + Town home games. I am missing the Town games but cannot say I am too fussed about the Premier League and the inordinate number of games on TV - over the past couple of years I've lost a bit of interest.

The trick to coping throughout this is learning what helps you to mentally cope - it's different for everyone.

WFH is keeping me extremely busy, which is good. Despite this, we all need to keep a routine, even putting in video calling at certain times in the day to the same people. I'm ok with WFH atm - never done it before - how this will look in June, goodness knows.

Not too bad so far, the hardest thing is marking the end of the working day as the tendency is to do just one more thing before logging off. I suspect that most of the time WFH would have busy in the office but communication is more difficult (and that's with being used to remote offices, just that two or three locations is easier than eight or ten).

I'm making sure I get out daily and try to time it so I can do at least an hour of walking. Not got back to running after a few years of back issues, I think that might be something I try and do over the next couple of weeks.

A couple of quiet weekends has been fine, actually nice not to be travelling or out too much but think that's where I'll start to feel frustrated over time. I enjoy living on my own but I think too many weekends of just my company might get harder. On the plus side I have loads to watch and read (and drink).

Really struggling most of the time. Most of my waking day is dealing with lots of people and lots of issues, not being sat on multiple screens.

The lack of training and being restricted to weights etc is rubbish too. Sleep has completely gone out of the window now.

I get to see more of my boy, and that's great and have spent some time gardening etc. but the fact that going out of the front door is stressful seemingly because people can't stay 2m away or shop sensibly doesn't help.

Loving it tbh.

Work is extremely busy but everyone's getting on with it. Starting earlier and finishing later than normal, but these times are indeed nae normal.

Got a stack of books to get through so the social downtime is helping with that. Plus started to learn Arabic and brushing up on French (sorry callis).

Although with two of the shipmates being bedridden over the weekend I think it's only a matter of time...

I can work from anywhere, so it's pretty much the same as normal but without the school run/commute/kids taxi service. The cloud of impending doom takes the edge of the enjoyment, but apart from that I prefer it.

If you try and get into running, the couch to 5k is really good - feels a bit slow at first but really helps build up the base levels of fitness and endurance for both the body and the lungs so is worth persisting with.

I'm enjoying the quiet weekends, am really missing football though - quite fortunate we have a lot of nice walks straight from my front door but is difficult with kids being at an age they don't understand things. Eldest always wants to go into the shop when we go there to get essentials, wants to go to the park when we walk past but can't because it's shut, etc.

I've done a couple of virtual pints which have been better than I thought they would, podcast recording tonight too which is similar.

Not sure it's possible to have the balance between time on own and time with family etc so we probably all crave at times what the others have!

Hmmm. It's OK. I miss going for a pint and a curry, and the live sports, but I don't miss the footy as much as I thought I would (the Town were crap before it all went off anyway and the PL live games never bothered me much).

The biggest miss is meeting up with people, but then we just go for a walk and meet that way when needed. I've put weight on, but have also read a load of books I never thought I would get round to, so there's a silver lining.

It's busy here.

Mrs H working from home, Rory, aged 7 the same

We're spending more time with each other which is lovely but more importantly talking to each other more.

Booze levels the same, exercise is a lot more, also it's warmer. I do miss the gym as I don't have a barbell and plates at home. I've some kettlebells and a slam ball which are getting tickled at the moment.

Our development has ceased and I feel bad about that as the firm who was building it has had to furlough their team.

Seems a bit harsh to make your kid work from home when he's only 7.

Its a slow drift downhill from me. I am working flat out so all days blend into one. Weekends and weekdays are all just the same. That is going to become an issue as time goes on with no lunches, nights out or time with other people to break it up.

I'm finding it lonely and I'm bored, only moved to the Algarve in December and my partner had to go to the UK four weeks ago to look after her daughter and now can't get back I'm not expecting to see her until the Autumn I would think.😩

Up to now things aren't very different from 'normal'.

I am working as usual as lorry driver; part of the supply chain.

Sister 1 is working as usual in security. C-virus doesn't mean that the risk of terrorism has gone away.

Sister 2 is 'front line' working in her local Co-op supermarket.

My eldest brother is retired but he and my sister-in-law are continuing to care for her very elderly mother.

My other brother, self employed double-glazier, is the only one unable to work.

My house-share lady is a specialist lorry driver going round the region's hospitals collecting clinical waste and bringing it to incinerator.

My son is office working from home.

Looking forward to a rest at easter!

I hope you've at least got a bit of sun, a decent outdoor space and a good wi fi connection to help soften the blow - as does sound a very lonely existence out there, best of luck to you.

Alright. In my second week of working from home (and had been self isolating for a week before that due to symptoms).

Have a desk set up in the window, as I would have it at work so feel a bit more normal. I'm very lucky that my work have been very supportive in making sure we can all work from home happily.

Missing people a lot, I'm quite a social person by nature and need that in my life. I miss my friends. We did have a 10-way Zoom chat on Friday for 4 hours where we all made burgers and chatted which was nice and felt very normal.

Am missing exercise too - I'd lost nearly 2 stone since January and am worried that I'll slip. But I'm lucky I live next door to Christchurch Park.

Trying very hard every day to make sure my mental health is looked after. Coincidentally I started a new course of CBT last week. It was meant to be in person, but am having it over the phone which whilst not ideal, is appreciated in these times.

I've also set myself a challenge to complete the 7 PS4 games I've bought over the last year and not started yet.

Hope you're good Joe and everyone else on here is as well.

TWTD is helping to keep us all sane I know. Thanks to Phil, Gav and whoever the hell Mark is for keeping this going. I imagine they're getting a lot more traffic at the moment.

Hi fellow blues.

I’m still working as I work for the emergency services. So it’s been ok. Missing the football. You don’t realise what a big part of your life sport plays until it disappears.

Keep being kind, make sure people are ok. Message someone you’ve not spoken to for ages.
