The 5 bands/ acts you listened to most at high school. on 10:13 - Apr 30 with 1674 views | IPS_wich | I underwent a complete change in my music taste during my last three years of high school, so can't just give one list: Fifth form (1990) - mostly very very uncool but the last one shows some seeds of maturing: - Dire Straits - A-ha - Roxette - Simple Minds - KLF Lower Sixth (1991) - starting to improve: - REM - The Orb - Carter USM - Slowdive - Pixies Upper Sixth (1992) - still listen to all of these apart from PWEI: - Pop Will Eat Itself - Nirvana - Levellers - REM (still) - Ned's Atomic Dustbin By the end of my first year at Uni I was in full on goth mode (Cure, Sisters, Nephilim, Bauhaus, Nine Inch Nails, Mission, New Model Army) [Post edited 30 Apr 2020 10:16]

I have decided to list what I was listening to in the final couple of years - 4th / 5th form. The Jam The Who Stranglers The Chords Purple Hearts Special mention to AC/DC who were a constant secret pain in my Mod life.

Our groovy 'house' common room had a hi-fidelity stacking record player on it...so it was a time to admire cool kid's album covers whilst listening to music. In no articular order... Cream The Nice KIng Crimson Soft Machine Bob Dylan - not a band I know but....

Nice mix NSO, I have listened to all of those relentlessly over time although I was never a huge fan of Quo. I did though recently read Francis Rossi's autobiography (highly recommended) and started to listen to the music again and actually they are better than people think. Hope you are well by the way.

Rossi's autobiography is an excellent read. His guitar work is greatly underappreciated in my opinion. The solos in the track '45 hundred times' is great!

Quo were (and are) a lot more diverse than folks think, they are not the '3 chord wonders' that people say. As for the others I included both Ian Dury and Squeeze because of their lyrics, Difford and Tillbrook were one of the best songwriting duos out there. The Stranglers were different..... a punk band that could actually play Greenwood on the keyboards was a master. I couldn't leave the pistols out... as a punk they stood for everything our generation felt at the time. As for myself I'm ok if extremely bored what with my Copd and the fact my job entailed me delivering medication to both care homes and joe public I was always going to be told to self-isolate and that's the case... gives me a chance to catch up on boxsets! Worst thing is... I can't go fishing!!
