What could the club change to get us back on the road to success? 07:56 - Aug 15 with 7107 views | Chrisd | If you could change ‘one’ thing to get us going in the right direction again what would it be? This can be on or off the field. Let’s try and be creative, instead of just saying PL.

You've controversially excluded Mr Lambert from your strategy. He's played in Germany.

What could the club change to get us back on the road to success? on 20:55 - Aug 15 with 1977 views | Shawsey | Instead of wasting money on journey men and lower league players, trust the youth. We have a great academy ( or so I believe ), so why not play them and trust them. No expectations on them, just the freedom to express their talent. A few experience pros already here to help them, so lets play the kids and give them a go.
What could the club change to get us back on the road to success? on 21:20 - Aug 15 with 1963 views | judespiveyg | 1. Play the youngsters, as in, 90 minutes every game, the only way they'll reach their potential is if they're actually kept in the team and persevered with. As far as I'm concerned, every minute played by Skuse, Judge, Huws etc this season is a minute wasted in the career of Dozzell, Dobra etc. 2. Have the guts to just go for it. In my short time as an Ipswich fan I've genuinely never seen us have a manager who wasn't scared to set up the team to attack and play on the front foot. Play to win, don't set up just to not lose. I'd rather lose 3-2 than 1-0.

I'd just like to see us win. Setting up to win doesn't necessarily mean throwing everything at attacking the opposition. If you don't get the balance right you'll get done. I don't understand the mentality of being happy to see us lose 3-2. That kind of thing happened a fair bit under Jewell and it wasn't very enjoyable. [Post edited 16 Aug 2020 8:31]

Regarding your first point, I get what you’re saying but this isn’t fifa or football manager. You need the right blend. You send a team of kids out every week for 90 mins in league one and we will be in for some massive losses, harming a lot of them. Having Woolfie, Downes, Dobra and Lankester in the team next season would be lovely. Playing anymore than that at once is asking for trouble though

What could the club change to get us back on the road to success? on 09:19 - Aug 16 with 1845 views | Garv | Develop a proper management and scouting* structure. Lambert won't be here for much longer (some posters will self combust if he is) but at the current rate the next man will be just as bad if there's no clear strategy set out by the club. *How and why is it that that we basically don't bother signing players from overseas anymore? I'm not expecting anything this year for obvious reasons, but in the last decade we've barely used the market.

Don't get me wrong, I'd take a horrible 1-0 win over a 3-2 loss every time. It's just if we are going to lose (which every team does occasionally) I'd rather we went down fighting in a thriller rather than the limp 1-0 defeats with 1 shot on target we've been treated to for the past few years. At least it feels like less of a waste of an afternoon that way.

What could the club change to get us back on the road to success? on 10:51 - Aug 16 with 1808 views | ElephantintheRoom | I'd like to see a salary cap brought in so the club can begin to compete on a level playing field without going £100 million in debt to a clueless offshore owner whilst declining at a rate of knots.. If only that could occur, everything else should fall into place rather nicely, even if the club continues to have a clueless owner, burnt out clueless manager..... and intolerant deluded support base living in the past

We used to have that before it fell victim to Evans cost cutting, then we became pretty much the only club in the football league without a community scheme, for example! It was reintroduced later on but the fact it was ever cut in the first place shows you the measure of our illustrious owner. He hasn’t got a clue what a football club is all about and never will have.
