The danger is that the type of person who likes waving a flag at the proms is so sheltered from what modern Britain is, that they'll see this as attack on jams and long shadows on a summers eve at the cricket. It's actually an ancient song that promotes Britain's anicent past of ransacking and privateering that is the cause of most of the world's resentment towards us.
We do need to stop cherry picking the aspects of Britishness in schools and stop romanticising us as the people who were always right and on the better side of the moral high ground. Saying that, Boris and Dom are taking care of the last bit.

Ba ba black sheep is obviously racist and promotes animal, although it does promote trans/crossing dressing so maybe it ok?
I worked as a Nursery Nurse in my teens, my Mother in law would repeatedly make comment on “not being allowed to sing baa baa black sheep anymore” - every time she did this I informed her that it was sang every day and that no one had closed the nursery down as of yet, yet she still believed that “the PC brigade” had banned it.
People are weird.

A totally irrelevant song.

The cherry-picking of Britishness is what saves us. I don't think that we should let the world know that we really are...
The Only way is Essex Made in Chelsea Drunken Brits abroad Piers Morgan Katy Hopkins Nigel Farage Loose Women The best PM we could muster is Boris Johnson like our page 3 t*ts think Mrs Brown is funny rate Paul Lambert as a manager
We must hide our dark side.
Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?

Don't know why you're getting a going over for this. Many pop songs have trashy questionable lyrics about money sex or violence.
Yes, and they are also widely recognised as having trashy lyrics and therefore not used at big patriotic events celebrating the nation.
Its an utterly irrelevant comparison IMO.
I find listening to almost anything by NWA pretty tough as most of it is offensive, and I'm pretty certain that almost none of it (aside from Express Yourself) would get played on any radio station.
I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun.
I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

Yeah some hippertty hop turn my morals inside out, especially when I like the tune.
Disagree on the question of relevance though. The proms are only a big national event to a small minority of people which might get heard less than an offensive ditty at Glastonbury, say.
Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

Our local (Ipswich) MP has already been on Facebook rallying his swivel-eyed core support.
I find myself banned from posting on there as I'm not a sycophantic Tory, if someone could simply post the link below for his 'I'm not racist but' crew, I'd be much obliged.
Please note: prior to hitting the post button, I've double checked for anything that could be construed as "Anti Semitic" and to the best of my knowledge it isn't. Anything deemed to be of a Xenophobic nature is therefore purely accidental or down to your own misconstruing.
An utterly confected story to generate outrage, it turns out only two people have suggested it be removed neither of them is at the BBC. Still culture wars for clicks and all that.
Last Night of the Proms is sh1te, but there have been more EU flags there in recent years to the fury of Brexiters.

You are talking about the oldest song in football - show it the same respect you'd expect young pups in their 60s to show you.
your wrong there. The oldest footie song probably goes back to New Testament times. after all Jesus gave his team a warning to "beware the eleven of the Pharisees"

Talking about gross songs that should be rewritten - how about the English National anthem. Surely I mean the 'British' national anthem? well no I don't. We re-wrote the anthem as the 4th verse read as.....
God Grant that Marshal Wade, May by thy mighty aid Victory bring, May he sedition hush, And like a torrent rush, Rebellious Scots to crush, God save the King. Confound their politics And curse their knavish tricks . . .
Not much of a 'United' Kingdom in those days. Times change and so should we.
And Rangers fans sing it loudly and proudly 🤷â€â™‚ï¸
