They did better than okay, the defence was solidly top 6. Our problems were at the other end of the pitch, it's a bit odd to pin the blame on the defence for not being even better when our main issue was our lack of cutting edge. | |

I didn't pin the blame on the defence. I pinned it on the whole team.
Yeah, I think being amongst the top 6 defences in the division is only OK, when the aim is to get promoted. If the whole team had been top 6, I'd consider that "doing OK". I especially consider it only OK because a lot of teams set out to stifle us rather than attack us last season.

I think you've got to think about the context more. Wycombe sat deep and let the opposition have the ball in almost every game they played. They had a lot more defending to do than our lot did. The point they took off us was essentially because their defence could handle dozens of different defensive situations, whilst ours was undone by one straight long ball. | |

Putting two banks of four behind the ball is relatively easy to do though. Sitting deep and defending your 18 yard box doesn't make you great defenders because you're doing it a lot. It's a tactic that makes it hard for the opposition to break you down. I think your take on it is a bit simplistic. And Wycombe did concede more goals than us last season despite their very defensive approach. | |

Similarly you aren't going to concede a lot of goals if the opposition let you have most of the ball.
I think saying we only conceded X many goals therefore the defence is good is pretty simplistic. | |
