Failed first one at 17 cos handbrake came off parents' car when I was doing hill start from red traffic lights up Guildford High St. Examiner was very sympathetic but said he had to fail me (poor man, he must have been terrified).

Passed 2nd one at 18 - car remained intact.

I was 17. Somehow passed first attempt. 1st lesson on my birthday and then 11 weeks later to the day. 1 lesson a week.

Took 3 valuable lessons for me to learn to drive afterwards!

First car came off Ranelagh Road, through some iron railings by the railway track there; even flattened a water hydrant whilst at it.

2nd was that lamp post by the new build Asda.

3rd, I was doing 60mph down some country road out Risby way and found myself at a T-junction still doing 60.

Hit the grass verge, took off and cleared the ditch, through a hedge and landed in a soft newly ploughed field. I got out and looked back and there was a car shaped gap in the hedge.

I was a teenege twit with an 'a'. But I learned and none of that happened ever again.

I passed 5 weeks after my 17th Birthday, but I did live in the 4rse end of nowhere and it was an enormous incentive.

My first car was older that me, by a good bit too, used to amaze me working in an office of 19-20 year olds up to a couple of years ago that they were all driving leased Beemers and Mercs.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

I think a number of people who believe they will never own their own homes thing 'sod it', they may as well have other nice things instead.

So like you say, lease or get loans for nice cars.

You can sort of see why.

I know a few youngsters who think that way, but still don't know how the hell they insure the things!

17. Passed the theory test on my 17th birthday.

Took me four attempts to pass though. I felt crap going into my fourth test. Was convinced i'd fail. It was only driving back to the test centre I thought hang on a minute, I don't remember making a mistake here and really thought I had a chance.

Truly impaired.

17, back in 2001. First attempt although think I had a fairly lenient examiner - definitely passed by the skin of my teeth!

17 and passed third time. I’d been knocked off my bicycle on the way home from work by some old boy coming out of a side road before the first one, informed the examiner, who failed me on one thing, hesitancy at one junction... second one faultless (I thought) but failed on everything. Third one was a total disaster but I passed!

17, passed second time.

I haven't driven in years, don't generally need to living in London but think I would need a few lessons to get going again.

17, with only 2 minors - was my 4th test though.

1st one I failed coming out of the test centre, was balancing on the clutch and some people walked in front of me on the path and he pulled the handbrake up. I was balancing dead still so felt harshly done by - ended up with that one and 2 other majors as got stuck in traffic and knew I'd failed so accumulated 5 minors for not putting handbrake on every time I'd stopped, and a further 5 minors for not looking over shoulder/in mirror every time I pulled away. I was sitting there thinking you utter petty w@nker every time I saw his pencil hit the paper!

2nd test I failed because I pulled up to traffic on Civic Drive, and as I stopped it started again, and I stalled - this caused a bus to get too close behind me which was hardly my fault!

3rd test I had to drive down a road I'd never been down, and ended up stopped at a junction on the wrong side of the raod - it was the top of Cobham Road turning back right onto Felixstowe Road. When the 2nd person gave me the 5 knuckle shuffle (who does that to a learner?!) I knew i wasn't good - thought I'd never pass at that point. Was my fault but just had no idea of the roads there as was off route, only got 2 or 3 minors that time and couldn't have been more deflated

21 by the skin of my teeth, managed to stall 3 times from nerves. I was told that if I’d done one more minor offence I’d have failed.

My hobbies include being quiet during trips, clapping with songs, and diabetes.

You've hardly started driving! No surprise you've swerved points.

I passed at 19. 30 Years ago.

Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me. Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing. Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial. Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid. Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.
