Age when passed driving test... on 22:26 - Sep 28 by jeera | I was 17. Somehow passed first attempt. 1st lesson on my birthday and then 11 weeks later to the day. 1 lesson a week. Took 3 valuable lessons for me to learn to drive afterwards! First car came off Ranelagh Road, through some iron railings by the railway track there; even flattened a water hydrant whilst at it. 2nd was that lamp post by the new build Asda. 3rd, I was doing 60mph down some country road out Risby way and found myself at a T-junction still doing 60. Hit the grass verge, took off and cleared the ditch, through a hedge and landed in a soft newly ploughed field. I got out and looked back and there was a car shaped gap in the hedge. I was a teenege twit with an 'a'. But I learned and none of that happened ever again. [Post edited 29 Sep 2020 16:54]

I failed my first test with more crosses than empty boxes on the sheet. My instructor said he'd never seen anything like it - kept giggling all the way home. Up to that point, I could have sworn he had no sense of humour!
Age when passed driving test... on 10:23 - Sep 29 with 1809 views | hype313 | 18, Passed first time but I did do the intensive course which at the time was in Lowestoft, it was January and getting the train up there for 4 days was enough to make sure you did pass by any means necessary! My Instructor was an avid Town fan living in a sea of budgies, although, he was quite odd, he had to stop at his house one lunchtime to get something and asked me if I wanted to see his memorabilia, I walked in and it was like a scene from Alan Partridge "to kill a mocking alan" I'm a Town fan, but this guy took it to another level, was a bit much even for me, you couldn't see the walls for pictures of us over the years.

Age when passed driving test... on 08:21 - Sep 29 by itfcjoe | 17, with only 2 minors - was my 4th test though. 1st one I failed coming out of the test centre, was balancing on the clutch and some people walked in front of me on the path and he pulled the handbrake up. I was balancing dead still so felt harshly done by - ended up with that one and 2 other majors as got stuck in traffic and knew I'd failed so accumulated 5 minors for not putting handbrake on every time I'd stopped, and a further 5 minors for not looking over shoulder/in mirror every time I pulled away. I was sitting there thinking you utter petty w@nker every time I saw his pencil hit the paper! 2nd test I failed because I pulled up to traffic on Civic Drive, and as I stopped it started again, and I stalled - this caused a bus to get too close behind me which was hardly my fault! 3rd test I had to drive down a road I'd never been down, and ended up stopped at a junction on the wrong side of the raod - it was the top of Cobham Road turning back right onto Felixstowe Road. When the 2nd person gave me the 5 knuckle shuffle (who does that to a learner?!) I knew i wasn't good - thought I'd never pass at that point. Was my fault but just had no idea of the roads there as was off route, only got 2 or 3 minors that time and couldn't have been more deflated |
19- 1st time, as with Joe, held it on the clutch without handbrake leaving the old Woodbridge Road test centre, then taken to a part of the Town never been too before, even asked the examiner where we were! Cobham Road is a testing turn at the traffic lights, people see the no-entry road on the right as they approach the lights and wrongly assume that it is one way. Another difficult junction for learners to contend with, is the right hand turn into Warwick Road from Spring Road when heading into the Town. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Admitting to having six minors. They should lock you up and throw away the key.

Age when passed driving test... on 11:06 - Sep 29 with 1791 views | soupytwist | It was a week before my 18th birthday and my third test. I took my first one at the same time on the same day as my then girlfriend and a good friend from school. They both passed, I felt a bit of an idiot. My son passed his recently, first time. His original one was scheduled the day after lock-down started and he had to wait a while for it to be re-scheduled. Took him about six weeks to have his first accident, but it wasn’t his fault.

That Warwick Road turning was on the test run at the time of mine so had done that junction loads of times - but your right, if you hadn't it would be awkward. Cobham Road wasn't on the test youtes so had never been there, and lived total other side of town, was a cut through to get back to test centre quickly as we were late - I should have ignored instruction and just gone straight

That's harsh, offender was only seventeen so barely above the age of minority too. Just send them to Lowestoft for the intensive course - or if you are still after hard treatment thenjust send them to Lowestoft...

Victim to a "crash-for-cash" a few years ago which was f*cking terrifying, and I heartily do not recommend it.

Age when passed driving test... on 13:49 - Sep 29 with 1728 views | fabian_illness | Passed my test first time, 4 weeks after my 17th birthday. 3 double lessons and another on the morning of the test. No separate theory back then. My old man used to take me out evenings in an old Mercedes 307 tipper because he would never let me drive the family car.

Age when passed driving test... on 22:40 - Sep 28 by jeera | I think a number of people who believe they will never own their own homes thing 'sod it', they may as well have other nice things instead. So like you say, lease or get loans for nice cars. You can sort of see why. I know a few youngsters who think that way, but still don't know how the hell they insure the things! |
to think a brand new car cost more than i paid for my house in 1978
