I want him to recover. I just can't bring myself to hope he dies. I know he's a pr1ck it put it mildly but surely the best outcome here is that he lives and gets soundly defeated in the election. Whatever follows (which I strongly suspect will be nothing) is for him to deal with.
In a weird way if he had been shot I probably wouldn't have had as much empathy. I've been breathless to the point you don't think you're getting any oxygen at all and it's not something I can wish on anyone. I can't bring myself to wish someone dies gasping for breath without their family in the room with them. I know what he's done. He died trying to retrieve something he had dropped down a drain when he became overwhelmed by the fumes. This particularly nasty person who had spent life frightening and stealing from others, died with his head down a drain hole.
