Nearest we've come is Bontcho, who featured in the semi in '94.

We've had Wilson (two of them); Moore; Hurst and Hunt (two of them). Not sure that they were coterminous with the famous winning team though. There have only ever been 21 World Cup finals - the first 3-4 of which nobody much entered, including the Home Nations. We are only talking about 450 or so players ever playing in a final, and only 250 winning one. Remember that substitutes were a later invention, restricting how many players could have been involved. Most of those who were involved would not have played outside their own countries. It's a fair bet, if anyone could be bothered to research it, that there are several Premiership clubs who have also never had a player win a world cup. | |
