Lucy Allan MP 16:23 - Dec 29 with 5536 viewstractordownsouth

The Telford MP, whose' greatest hits include fabricating death threats and tweeting doctored videos of Keir Starmer from a far right troll account, has made a bit of a tit of herself on Twitter this morning.

She's been playing down the impact of Covid by retweeting that fewer people without underlying conditions have died from covid than from road accidents. Only problem with that is that underlying conditions includes stuff like eczema and asthma, so discounts a massive chunk of the population and that you can't catch a road accident.

To top it off, she started moaning about being silenced as soon as people criticised her. She's got to be one of the worst, even in the current Tory party.

Given your repeated snidey remarks and weird sans context down-voting, that's a bit rich coming from you 'new poster'.

Given the poster has a name that mimics George Erza's song Shotgun which has the phrase, "time flies by in the yellow and green" - nodge fan?

I wonder if it has been pointed out to Ms Allan that the overwhelming majority if those who died in road accidents were not swimming at the time, and 0 (zero) were doing the backstroke. This must have some significance, right?

What are you talking about? I’m not following you anywhere. I’ve ignored some stuff on this thread from your mates that I could easily have bitten at. This is not the thread to start with this nonsense. Good night.

He's been accused of it a few times and started crying.

Then he dishes it out all over the show.

He's a class A prick whatever he is.

Banging on about Guardian reading lefties a few days ago, taking pot shots at certain posters and following a few about down-voting without adding a word of contribution.

A candidate for early banning as far as I'm concerned. Tired of these children who keep passing through only looking to disrupt.

Thanks, and apologies to KievTheGreat who already posted that, but i didn't look past the first tweet as i thought when excess deaths were mentioned, we weren't talking about the same thing.

Assuming (that word again), that the ONS definition is the same as the NHS England definition, that appears to be a large list, but not being a doctor, I couldn't possible say which ones are covid related or not.

The tweeter seems keen to emphasise which diseases would not cause covid alone, perhaps in riposte to those putting forward the argument of "would have died anyway", but to me the question of if NHS England are giving out misleading figures when they present figures filtered by underlying health conditions, is do these conditions contribute to Covid.

Think it's more a case of misleading conclusions being drawn from the data by a journalist, deliberately or otherwise.

Although i would agree that part of a journalist's job is to look beyond the headline figures and drill down into the small print as we have done here, i disagree that the misleading conclusion is made by the journalist. The misleading figures have been produced by NHS England, if their own definition of "underlying health conditions" are to include things that have nothing to do with covid.

It's better to record all data, rather than just what you think will be important at the start. You might spot new trends you hadn't anticipated and would otherwise miss.

Overall this is an issue of journalists reading, but not understanding what they're looking at. Why? Because this is made for statisticians and Medical professionals who are aware of what they're looking at. It's like when Climate Change papers say "this glacier has increased in size over the last 20 years" or "global temperatures have remained stable for the last 7 years" and journalists writing sensationalist stories about climate change not happening. They take a piece out of context to fit a narrrative.

Born in the wrong millennium more like. And I’m not referring to the last one. Clearly would’ve been one of the finest minds of the dark ages. But most possibly not. Paz has to be a troll or else is one of the biggest oxygen stealing, waste of semen board members I’ve ever had the misfortune to have noticed on here.

If they were selective about which conditions to include and exclude from the catch-all "underlying health condition" then I'm sure they'd be criticised for that too. Aside from obvious things like respiratory issues the disease is so new it's impossible to know for sure which conditions do and do not influence how severely individuals might be affected by Covid.
