No new sticks with which to beat Lambert tonight 21:43 - Jan 26 with 3001 viewsRadlett_blue

sending off effectively decided the game. Town battled well with 10 men & the notion that the players aren't playing for him is odd.
Woolfenden was Town's best player.

I thought we did as well as you could expect and for the large part looked really well organised off the ball. And we took the game to Sunderland in the last 15-20 minutes. Obviously we'd never have scored as we didn't have the players out there who are a goal threat. Lambert will come out and say that he's pleased and that was an excellent performance, and he'll be more right than wrong.

But it's another defeat and a repeat of last year happening in front of our eyes. We're 18th now in the form table over the last 10 games. Lambert should go on the basis of that rather than tonight.

The problem is this ...
We haven’t played particularly badly, especially given the sending off ... but that is always the case. We are devoid of confidence, devoid of belief, devoid of ambition. You will not get promoted this way. We are stale, we are uninspired and we are timid. Our squad is bloated and comfortable. Time for a shake up.

Yes, don’t think there’s been an great deal in the last two games and we’re a little unfortunate to have lost both but it’s not just two matches in isolation.

Just makes me even more convinced that we could take this league by the scruff of it's neck if we had a decent manager.

Agree sending off decided game, but not with Woolfenden as best player.

Thought Woolfenden was at fault for their goal, went out to the left, when he should have stayed centrally. McGuinness was miles better than Woolfy.

We won a game 3-2 when we lost a striker.

The fact we are accepting a 0-1 loss due to a red card is painful.

Just go for it. You win the game your a hero
You lose and the red card did it.

Never be afraid to share your thoughts.

There's an argument to say as soon as Jackson was sent off any gameplan from Lambert went out the window and it was the players taking tactical responsibility.

Yes, yes, but enough about the Conservative party, what about Ipswich!?

The sending off will be the only thing that comes out of this game tonight. The result is secondary. The club, quite rightly, will point to the performance the 10 men gave for 80 minutes and that will be that.

However, at the end of the day, we have now lost 6 home games out of 7. Sunderland are not all that and they've taken 3 points from us. I'm not convinced either way that the outcome and amount of chances created would be any different had it been 11 v 11 for 90 minutes. Sunderland were probably happy with the lead once they got their goal, and knowing our lack of fire power, believed that would be enough.

Yep. I do wonder how accurate we are when we say that the players are more than good enough. All I see out there is poor decision making and an inability to do the basics sometimes. I think there are only about 3 or 4 I'd want to keep. Flynn, Tedy, possibly Dozzell and er....? I'm sure there's probably a fourth. Maybe Woolf, but he's going backwards at the moment.

Lambert is already well underwater and tonight he needed to start swimming back towards the surface. We lost, so he didn't.

It's been clear for over a year that Lambert isn't getting anywhere near the best out of these players. I thought he was a poor appointment at the time & nothing since has changed my view.
However, nothing much wrong with the performance tonight.

Yes the sending off effectively decided the game and we played well considering we were at a disadvantage but Lambert still made mistakes as far as I am concerned. When down to 10 men & you have a striker on the bench who can hold the ball up, you don't wait until 10 minutes into the 2nd half to bring him on. Also when a team is having to work harder due to being a man down, you don't wait until the 87th minute to bring on two subs. And you don't use one of those subs to bring on a defender when chasing a game.

Lambert out!

I'm not convinced it wouldn't have panned out exactly the same way without the sending off.

The evidence of 2 seasons would suggest it was likely.

Telling that they are all products of our Academy. Gifts to the manager, and more on the production line.

Any team that can bring players in from the academy to add to a squad they have put together ought to be one of the favorites for promotion.

Just show what a messed up manager we have.

I'd say the bench would be a huge stick to beat him with.

Should have had at least one of Lankester, Dobra or El Mizouni on there as a different option. Instead we get Kenlock with 3 minutes to go when we need something special to get a result.

It's just poor decision making all the time.

Ah. an Improved Performance. Are we really still being pleased with limp defeats because we played a bit of football occasionally?
