The fall of the EU is close 12:48 - Jan 30 with 8791 views | The_Last_Baron | Not long to go in the life of this dismal construct. People all over Europe are waking up and it's entering its final stage, the collapse will be quicker than you could ever possibly imagine. Much like the Soviet Union, it will fall like a game of Kerplunk.

The fall of the EU is close on 14:31 - Jan 30 by Herbivore | That wasn't abuse. You've misunderstood the context that means it isn't abusive, understandable given how painfully dim-witted you are. [Post edited 30 Jan 2021 14:52]

That’s not abusive | |

The fall of the EU is close on 14:31 - Jan 30 by m14_blue | I have no problem with you at all, FWIW I think you get a disproportionate amount of stick. You’re so wrong about this though. Of course countries can flourish outside of a trading bloc, but that’s not the same thing at all as being part of a trading bloc which collapses after many decades. That would be absolutely earth shattering for the global economy and we would be first in the firing line, given our geographic and economic ties with the continent. British businesses are already finding out to their cost how much extra bureaucracy is now required to import/export. |
Thank you. It would be short term turbulence at worst.

The fall of the EU is close on 14:12 - Jan 30 by GlasgowBlue | As Tony Blair said, “Brexit is happening, and our attitude now should be to strive to make the best of it; to approach it with determined optimism, not looking over our shoulders in unrequited longing for what was". I'm quite happy to re visit this thread with you in five years. |
Good luck on that Glassers, and I hope you're right. But it's been nearly 5 years since the referendum and we're still waiting for the first 'Brexit dividend'. Meanwhile we've lost influence with the largest trading block on our doorstep, seen a glut of organisations leaving the UK and disinvesting and on a personal level many of us have lost colleagues who've abandoned the UK and lost jobs/opportunities that we were enjoying before. I'll forever be bitter about the last bit (hopefully mellow over time) but do hope that we see some improvements in the not too distant future. It would be nice to salvage something out of this.

Where do you get 'short term turbulence' from 'That would be absolutely earth shattering for the global economy and we would be first in the firing line, given our geographic and economic ties with the continent'?

There's more bureaucracy. Either you're on a wind up or you haven't got a clue what you're talking about. You keep crying abuse despite trolling the board all the time. Yet I think most people are pretty restrained considering the level of your contributions.

Are we near the the point in the thread where you admit you don't know what you're talking about but it's jolly mean of us to point it out in response to your Speak You're Branez witterings? You've claimed 'remoaners' isn't an insult - neither is 'painfully dimwitted' for someone who proves they are every time they post on here.

I suspect Paz is an armchair Brexiteer who's got all his misinformation second hand from the likes of Farage. I've certainly seen nothing to suggest he has any personal experience or had invested anything in the relationship with the EU. He just regurgitates the same old tired and wrong arguments of the one-eyed Brexiteers, almost verbatim. I don't know why people bother engaging. He's got no insights to offer.

Just passing time until the football starts Paz’s arguments are like Lamberts football. Slow, lacking teeth and totally bizarre.

Personally I don't think it will be catastrophic. I do not believe in the sunnier uplands either. I believe the UK have lost more than they gained and will take years to get back to the place the were when they left. Very much a case of voting for a bird in the bush rather than in the hand. That aside why have you such venom for an entity you are no longer a member of? You will have to change your tack of blaming UK ills on the EU.

I hate to be picky but it's the customs union that removes the bureaucracy not a free trade agreement - that just removes/controls tariffs. It's part of the reason the argument gets simplified and remain lost - the boring but important detail that is going to dog us for the next ten years.....
