SSN deadline day 08:45 - Feb 1 with 6227 views | Jimmy86 | Sky Sports are reporting Huddersfield are in talks with town over a loan deal for Kayden Jackson... I know he's suspended, but we are short of strikers anyway.. guess if he goes that will open up some space for manoeuvre with the salary cap
SSN deadline day on 09:24 - Feb 1 with 1580 views | Hipsterectomy | It is strange he has never really done it here yet there always seems to be 3 or 4 Championship teams who want him at any moment in time. Maybe they can see we aren't using him correctly...

SSN deadline day on 09:17 - Feb 1 by Jimmy86 | Still kinda surprised about just how scathing Lambert was of him after the Sunderland red card. Don't think any malice was meant in the challenge, was obviously trying too hard |
Probably Lambert has burnt his bridges with Jackson. Jackson made a point of saying he wants to play i a two, gets sent off when playing upfront on his own and gets sent off and after the match Lambert doesn't just throw Jackson under the bus, he throws him as far under it as he possibly can for self preservation reasons. That is why he was so scathing. Lambert right now knows that the Jackson sending off was a perfect excuse to blame for losing that match, he's got Jackson to come out and say sorry, which also proves to Evans that Lambert is right. He's probably totally alienated Jackson in the process, which is why that this move may actually make sense. The big issue with Lambert now is that he's only thinking of his short term future, if he alienates players in the meantime he doesn't care. It's all about self preservation and shifting the blame for him now. That is exactly why Evans needs to pull the plug NOW. Lambert no longer has the club's best interests at heart, just his own for tht reason, if Evans doesn't pull the trigger he is enabling further decline or our once great club. If it was a school, ITFC would be put in special measures as the ownership seemingly don't have the capability to understand the problems and turn them around. [Post edited 1 Feb 2021 9:28]

SSN deadline day on 09:23 - Feb 1 by davblue | unless we change the way we play, it isn't going to make the slightest bit of difference who we have up front. |
The only chance of changing the way we play is change the man who decides. Same applies as far as changing the manager is concerned.

SSN deadline day on 09:20 - Feb 1 by Pinewoodblue | It has to be someone who will fit into the system, quality not a consideration.. Not my view of course but since we are stuck with Lambert...... |
...Into a system that clearly hasn’t been working - even if we brought in a striker accustomed to playing the lone striker role, do we supply enough? Jackson and Norwood looked a decent pairing at the start of last season... how often have we played them alongside each other since?

SSN deadline day on 09:13 - Feb 1 by DinnernotTea | Mate you're getting emotional a bloke who has 15 in 80 games for us might be leaving. So I'm curious which 3 talents he has why he's a good player. |
15 out of 80 when, as a striker, he's been asked to play wide right (typically) and provide defensive support - which clearly isn't 1 of his 3 talents. For me - he has genuine pace - so you really want him playing off the last shoulder of a CB and you need to play a striker alongside him. He's actually a bit of busy so and so and actually niggly and nasty (he's a pain for defenders to defend against). Whilst not at Norwood or Garners level - he certainly doesn't give a defender an easy time, he is always on the move as well. He's actually a half decent finisher - his goals to game ratio would be much better had we actually played him alongside, say even Drinan for example. We are a League 3 team and at this level - he is decent. But as with Sears, we seem intent on playing him out of position. Sears time seems to have gone but I suspect if we let Jackson go - he'll do well at a Club that uses his strengths. Edit - assists - take a look at how many goals he assisted with his time with us....not to bad at all. [Post edited 1 Feb 2021 9:29]

SSN deadline day on 09:30 - Feb 1 with 1515 views | Ace_High1 | I think views on Jackson are skewed due to his transfer fee. Was it not £1.7m which for us is huge, that is one of the largest transfer fees we have paid in the last 18 years is it not? So that doesn't help as I expect one of our largest signings to be a clinical striker which he is not. I know I probably wrongly expect him to be a hell of a lot better than can run a bit for that sort of fee.
SSN deadline day on 09:31 - Feb 1 with 1501 views | BlueandTruesince82 | Not sure he wants to be here.... that clumsy challenge the other day may have been a message. Instead of sacking the manager we have perhaps decided to ship out the player? Top Ipswich that. Lambo going nowhere until season end. #depressed

Emotional? Interesting interpretation of being asked to justify your position. You're ignoring the context of a good portion of those games. SB

Could you just explain to me why you downvoted the original post which merely reported what Sky had been saying, and then suggested a way of us getting on with it, if true. Later posts revealed that the O.P. actually likes Jackson, just as you do. Surely being "positive" needn't involve shooting the messenger?

SSN deadline day on 08:51 - Feb 1 by Herbivore | If this happens then Lambert won't be going anywhere imminently I expect. |
That was my thought too. A new manager would undoubtedly want to have a look at him, whereas he clearly doesn’t fit within Lamberts formation. The red card will not hav3 helped his cause either

SSN deadline day on 10:13 - Feb 1 with 1293 views | Marshalls_Mullet | He should not be leaving. He proved last year that he can be effective when played in the right system. If we learned anything from Hurst, it should be that you don't sell your better strikers without a proven replacement. A new manager may well make better use of Jackson.

SSN deadline day on 08:56 - Feb 1 by Jimmy86 | Reminds me of the time Jewell let Delaney go on a free and didn't have a replacement lined up... If we are removing a senior player it might give us wriggle room to bring in a better striker on loan under the salary cap and not a Forest youth |
That was peak Jewellness. Peak Lambertness hasn't been reached yet, I fear.

SSN deadline day on 10:26 - Feb 1 with 1239 views | clive_baker | To be fair, that is the exact emotional and reactionary decision I would make on Football Manager after that red card. I would be offering he out to all clubs before the final whistle and upsetting 70% of the squad.
