It's Sky, so no, it's not factual. They do enjoy the odd embellishment and sensationalism to their stories. "Two disgruntled fans set off three flares near to the training ground, causing minimum disruption" just wouldn't get the clicks.

you can hardly blame Sky News - it's a direct quote from the club! I can't imagine there was anybody contactable from the other side to give their version of events...

You don't seriously think there would be anything to be gained by saying that it was 4, 5 or 6 rather than 12?!!! There either was or wasn't an attack at the training ground involving thrown incendiaries. Players would have no doubt been shaken up by this whichever way you look at it. It is counter-intuitive to do this from a fan perspective and anyone vindicating it should be banned from the stadium.

You are correct. The number of flares is not the question. A video showing 3 flares outside the training ground that were set off after a lot of smoke attracted the attention of Stuart Taylor. At no point did it show anything going over the fence, any signage catching fire or any risk to any staff. Of course, it is possible that the video stops before all these things happen but why would Blue Action choose to do these things? Why would the club exaggerate and lie about them? Somewhere amongst these reports lies the truth. If it is the club that is lying in order to discredit the fans who are calling for Lambert to go, that is a new low from a club on a massive downward trajectory.

You're making it sound like a deliberate attempt to break into Playford Road and burn down buildings there. Rather than a protest on a public footpath where the perhaps unwise use of flares caused accidental fire damage to stuff hung on the perimeter fence.

Now on Sky News front page............ on 16:10 - Feb 16 with 1130 views | HighgateBlue | Imagine what most on here would rightly be saying if these were Millwall fans. Many Town fans seem to think we've got a God-given right to success and respect, just because in the past, granted for an extended period, we were well-run and managed by decent, talented people with a smile on their face. This behaviour is criminal thuggery. The fact that the people doing it want Paul Lambert out, and I agree with them on that passionately, doesn't change the fact that it was criminal thuggery. In the eyes of many people watching Sky and reading the news, this is now the image of Ipswich Town and its fans. This is the principal achievement of Blue Action so far. I wonder what delights they have planned next...

Reminds me of a rather good poem - https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/51294/waiting-for-the-barbarians "Waiting for the Barbarians BY C. P. CAVAFY TRANSLATED BY EDMUND KEELEY What are we waiting for, assembled in the forum? The barbarians are due here today. Why isn’t anything going on in the senate? Why are the senators sitting there without legislating? Because the barbarians are coming today. What’s the point of senators making laws now? Once the barbarians are here, they’ll do the legislating. Why did our emperor get up so early, and why is he sitting enthroned at the city’s main gate, in state, wearing the crown? Because the barbarians are coming today and the emperor’s waiting to receive their leader. He’s even got a scroll to give him, loaded with titles, with imposing names. Why have our two consuls and praetors come out today wearing their embroidered, their scarlet togas? Why have they put on bracelets with so many amethysts, rings sparkling with magnificent emeralds? Why are they carrying elegant canes beautifully worked in silver and gold? Because the barbarians are coming today and things like that dazzle the barbarians. Why don’t our distinguished orators turn up as usual to make their speeches, say what they have to say? Because the barbarians are coming today and they’re bored by rhetoric and public speaking. Why this sudden bewilderment, this confusion? (How serious people’s faces have become.) Why are the streets and squares emptying so rapidly, everyone going home lost in thought? Because night has fallen and the barbarians haven't come. And some of our men just in from the border say there are no barbarians any longer. Now what’s going to happen to us without barbarians? Those people were a kind of solution." C. P. Cavafy, "Waiting for the Barbarians" from C.P. Cavafy: Collected Poems. Translated by Edmund Keeley and Philip Sherrard.
