It is quite amusing seeing people get so wound up over whether a plastic potato should be gendered or not. At least Dollers lost his head over real potatoes.

I mentioned earlier think about what these stories are armed to do and who they provide arguments for.

Rommers has already shown up to demonstrate how this story now applies to pronouns and a very poor view/understanding of trans rights issues.

I think we've seen enough evidence over the last decade about how the smaller things we laugh at like bendy bananas and shooting immigrants in boats plays into a larger narrative of danger/stupidity.

All I'm saying is when you publicly talk about this stuff think about who's reading/listening. We don't need more post who arm the right wingers with stuff they don't really understand.

It’s f**king embarrassing. It’s a plastic toy who specifically has been known for dozens of years as Mr Potato Head. That’s the toy. Jesus Christ.

My uni this week gave in to a campaign which now means every lecturer is encouraged to put their pronouns at the beginning of every email sent to students. Apparently you should also never refer to someone as he or she in a lesson as you could be misgendering someone. Only refer to them as this if the person has specifically announced at the start of a class what their pronouns are otherwise use a neatral term such as ‘they’. What has the world come to?

Perhaps the solution to this problem is to make future Potatoheads with a lower attachment that can be either a penis or a vagina and then children can combine doctors and nurses games with Potatohead games by doing gender reassignments. Surely that would provide a wealth of education. This post started out as my usual snide humour but as I typed it I began to believe in the approach actually.

You should copyright that, but probably need to pick another vegetable. Not a courgette though as everyone will complain that it's too male.

I'm not "picking an argument", I'm making a point. Disagreeing or pointing something out isn't automatically argumentative.

I don't have the patience to tiptoe around this stuff. I have a handful of trans friends, two I've known prior to opening up about it and transitioning. It's not a LOLBANTZ matter and I think I have been quite reasonable in this thread compared to what I'd like to say.
