When someone explained microaggressions to us?

Although if every time that something could be construed as a microaggression in a reply to a post was called out then each thread would be four times longer.

Forever. There are arguments and piss takes, but for years the vast majority of regulars have cared about the plight of others. We see it on here with the level of support whenever anyone is going through a bad time.

I'm glad it is and we should be proud it's 'woke'. As the alternative would be a horrible place full of a-holes.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

It's not very woke. I saw someone just attacking a fellow poster over where they live as a way to devalue their opinion. Thats not woke its toxic.

What's wrong with Suffolk? It's a lovely place and coming from there doesn't devalue anyone's opinion. Most of us are from there after all!

Around the time of Brexit I think. Not to do with Brexit per se, but around that time, reflecting the whole country (and beyond) starting to take entrenched positions. People on the right have become more un-woke (original meaning) as well for want of a better phrase. This is not an opinion on any of this is bad or good, just an opinion on what occurred. If it is possible to pull up some pages from the forum from 2015 ish it will feel like a different world yet a lot of the posters will have the same names.

I’m guessing about the same time you started using the term “woke”.

What is it about a community of (mostly)straight white men showing some basic decency towards people even if they're NOT white, straight or male that upsets you?

What do you even mean by that? Is like when a two year old learns a new word and keeps on repeating it.

‘Woke, woke, woke, woke, woke’.
‘Well done you’
‘Woke, woke, woke, woke, woke’.
‘Well done, keep practising your words’.
‘Woke, woke, woke, woke, woke,
‘Ok, it’s getting annoying now...do you want to watch Night Garden?

It's too early in the day to be penetrating anything.

I need my mid-morning preprandial and Spanish fly drops before any of that malarkey.

Three TWTD posters were discussing aging on the steps of the nursing home.
"Sixty is the worst age to be," announced Lucan. "You always feel like you have to pee. And most of the time, you stand at the toilet and nothing comes out!"

"Pffft, that's nothing," said Glassers. "When you're 70, you can't take a decent dump anymore. You take laxatives, eat prunes - you sit on the bog all day and nothing comes out!"

"Actually," said Facters "eighty is the worst age of all."

"Do you have trouble pissing too?", asked Lucan

"No ... not really. I pee every morning at 6AM. I piss like a racehorse - no problems there."

"Do you have trouble taking a dump?", asked Glassers.

"No, not really. I have a HUGE bowel movement every morning at 6:30."
With great exasperation, Lucan year inquired: "Let me get this straight. You piss every morning at six o'clock and take a crap every morning at six thirty. What's so tough about being eighty?"

To which the Facters replied - "I don't wake till ten."

That was actually listed as a method of female-on-male rape in the FBI forensic handbook. It makes sense in theory, but in practice I really don't see how it works.

Seems that way.

It always seems to be those that throw out soundbites like this thread title that are so reluctant or incapable of actually engaging in a conversation. It's a pretty straightforward question to ask someone to elaborate on what they mean. Since when has being aware of social issues and injustice been a bad thing?

It's the new buzzword for a certain flavour of dickhead, init.
It's replaced 'PC gorn mad' and 'do-gooder' for certain kinds of fools.
