I remember delia a few months ago. Something along the lines of
"We will lose players. Theyll be playing in Europe but not for us.
That Norwich is why you will always always be tin pot regardless of where we are right now. |
In all honesty that is a very sensible thing to say though. They are a club who are juggling assets for a slow climb to success, and to gain financial security.
ITFC never did this under Evans, not consistently. Mick was the closest we had to employing that model. Year after year we made high risk investments in players with mind to jump into the PL - but rarely could sell them on at a profit.
We repeatedly let assets go for next to nothing, and didn't even mitigate the loss with selling them at a loss - we just let them go.
So what happens when a club has nothing to sell? They end up in L1 with a bunch of players who were bought in over value and have next to no resale value. The club owner absorbs those losses by investing heavily into the floating of the club, leaving no budget to improve the squad at all.
So, for all the things NCFC are tinpot over, running a sustainable business model for the security and growth of the club is not one of them. |  |

That’s the difference between the two sets of fans in a nutshell.
Having had genuine success in the past Town fans will always compare the current side to those iconic sides and be underwhelmed and disappointed.
Having had no success in the past, the only thing that Norwich fans can get excited about is their position relative to Ipswich.
And that’s why, whether they like it or not, they have such an inferiority complex.
Imagine sitting down with your grandchildren in your old age and a lifetime of footballing memories comes down to a single goal in Germany and losing to Inter Milan. It would be horrible. |

Being England YoYo Champions isn't really anything to get excited about.
Clubs like Bolton and Sunderland did the whole up and down thing for years and look how that turned out for them. Clubs like Man City and Leicester dropped but didn't spend the better part of a decade bouncing up and down and earning the record of being England's most relegated club.
Your claim to fame is England's most relegated football club. The sad thing is your not even embarrassed about it. You'll be relegated again too, as bad as we are now, at least we're invisible enough from mainstream football for the world not to care. Norwich however is synonymous with being the Premier League's whipping boys. Prem clubs see your name on the fixture lists and think 3 points, they don't think wow what a club, they look at you and laugh, especially when your fans clap the opposition scoring against you and when you blub all over the TV over yet another relegation.
