Personally I think he will walk 18:42 - Apr 10 with 10829 viewshype313

If, and its a big if he was unaware (which I find incredibly hard to believe) and feels like the rug has been pulled then I think he may well be off. I hope I'm wrong and would be more than happy to be proved incorrect, but I just find it bizarre that he hasn't taken two Press conferences now since the announcements, why wouldn't you? Unless you feel you have been shafted

I'm really not sure this is the case - he came here to have complete control of the footballing side of the club, and is now being told that there will be a structure enforced on him by people he's never met before, making decisions on transfers etc.

For him to be publicly interviewed on the situation now would be madness from his (legal) perspective. He will have been advised this.

I'm not too fussed if he does walk.

It'll get really interesting if (all the conjecture is more or less accurate) and in addition, Evans had told the new owners that Cook was fine with everything, when he actually hadn't ran things by Cook properly.

That would make it a really interesting legal situation where you could end up with the majority shareholders suing the minority shareholder for the value of Cook's contract while we hunt for our next manager.

From what I've read, he's apparently not happy with a certain type of FC structure, nor a particular person who was making decisions re player signings at another club.

Having said that, I wouldn't want anyone here as Manager who doesn't see us as a huge opportunity & inviting challange right now, so if that's the case & he's off, then so be it. Tho finding a decent replacement would be difficult of course.

Would be funny if the last manager complained about a lack of structure and the new manager complained about the structure that's now in place. Very ITFC.

I understand that he might be annoyed at the goalposts changing but I can't accept that he's discovered that the job is bigger than he thought - if that's true it doesn't say much for his insight, research and ability.

He knew and knows the size of the task in hand. He was nailed on for the job ages ago and would have done his due diligence.
Nothing to read into this.

Yes, of course its just speculation, but if (and it's still an if at this point) Cook isn't happy, then the process by which we got to this point must have been pretty flawed!

If there was a wrong way to go about keeping people in the loop and happy, Evans will have found it.

I see nothing more here than very wild speculation though.

Really can't see him walking. I think next time we hear him he'll be full of excitement.

IF he does walk then I won't be too bothered as he won't the manager I thought he was.

I repeat though, I think he IS the manager I think he is and he'll love it.

Good post J2....i think too many are looking for something that isn't there.

It's an odd situation granted but I don't think Cook would walk away from a 3 yr contract and it's not a great look for a future employer to walk away even if they feel their is a mitigating circumstance.

I think he knew and i think it's also why he said fans will be excited only a few weeks ago.

Lets just wait and see but i think it's probably because he may well be asked too many questions that he can't answer, and probably wants to talk with the new owners before doing press.

Yes, of course at this point it's just wild speculation - but if/when it comes out that Cook isn't happy with the situation then I think three's a decent chance it will end up being litigated.

He would walk away with three year's wages if he's been misled during recruitment process.

Think the possibilities are:

1. Genuinely unhappy that he has been led up the garden path and will be off
2. Using the situation as a bargaining chip with the new management for better salary and/or player budget, would be a bit of an embarrassment for new owners if he left
3. Wants to know more from the new owners before he has to speak publicly about the situation

Not looking for something that isn't there? The guy has swerved two presses since the takeover, why would he unless he felt he had been mislead.

Absolute nonsense to think its because he wanted to concentrate on the game.

I think you’re all massively over-thinking it.

Nothing more than a manager giving his squad a few deserved home truths following a number of poor performances.
Not the first and not the last time that’s happened here or at any club.

Yes, personally I think it's more of a stretch to think that there's nothing afoot here - not talking publicly about a matter like this is a big signal that he's being advised legally.

If he was delighted about the takeover then of course he'd want to talk about it.

Absolutely agree. Maybe he was so jarred with that performance for the second week running he just stuck 10 bells into the players, some in particular and was not in the right frame of mind to be asked stupid questions from the media.

Lets be honest the bulk of the questions would have been about the takeover. Why should it bother him. He is paid to manager the football side of the club, well paid as well probably.

I really think a few on here are putting two and two together and coming up with five. If some of them can count of course!!!!!!

I think that he wanted to speak to the players, tell them they are coming in for training tomorrow as today wasn't good enough to get the 3 points, and then he went on to meet with O'leary like he would normally with M.E and LON

I think he has known about the takeover, no taking press conferences may be just because there is very little positive to say about this squad at the moment, and I don't blame him it's hard to keep coming up with stuff to say to try to keep everyone happy and not inadvertently publicly criticise some of your players. The summer is one to look forward to, and he'll be here to sort it all I think he has the 100% backing of the new owners

He'd be mad to. Hes got a 3 year contract, New owned a who publicly backed him, money to spend all at one of the biggest clubs in the divsion

I think PC is a traditional sort of manager and being left to run things under Evans suited him , but maybe the new owners way of doing things is not really his style .

Pretty sure he needs to know the arrangements he'll be working under before he can speak publicly - if he said 'it's brilliant news!' and then a month later walked away because the CEO refused to sign Will Grigg he would've put himself in a much weaker legal position.

HIs contract will specify his role and responsibilities - if the club want to change these they would either have to ask him to agree to this or pay up his salary if he doesn't agree.

If Evans had misled ORG about Cook's feelings on the takeover, then ORG would have a claim against Evans.
