Personally I think he will walk 18:42 - Apr 10 with 10828 viewshype313

If, and its a big if he was unaware (which I find incredibly hard to believe) and feels like the rug has been pulled then I think he may well be off. I hope I'm wrong and would be more than happy to be proved incorrect, but I just find it bizarre that he hasn't taken two Press conferences now since the announcements, why wouldn't you? Unless you feel you have been shafted

Probably smashing a bottle of scotch after watching the team he’s stuck with for another 7 games.

HIs contract will specify his role and responsibilities - if the club want to change these they would either have to ask him to agree to this or pay up his salary if he doesn't agree.

If Evans had misled ORG about Cook's feelings on the takeover, then ORG would have a claim against Evans.
[Post edited 10 Apr 2021 20:06]

Only if there is some significant change. Which there is no suggestion of. Can see no basis for a claim against Evans.

So soon after new manager and takeover and people are already throwing out wild damaging speculation. And we wonder why things go badly for the club.

Agree, I don't believe for a second that he didn't know anything even if that is the official story.

Maybe he was caught out by how quick it happened after being appointed.

I genuinely heard that it wasn't likely to happen until the end of season, so maybe he has been caught on the hop slightly, but i don't see why it should change things.

He would have asked Marcus what was going on during his interview with ME because there was plenty or rumour and why would ME have lied if he was going to sell, makes no sense.

Unless ME really did have a late change of heart from not selling to selling which would maybe explain what i heard initially about a takeover not happening.

He would walk away with three year's wages if he's been misled during recruitment process.

Why would he get 3 years wages for an 18 months contract?

I totally agree. He is on record as preferring direct access to the organ grinder and not the monkeys. It would be completely in character for Evans to have stayed stum about the iminent hierarchy.
He'll leave. Why else send Gill to give post match talk? This reeks of Evans' mismanagement.
Don't blame Cook at all if he walks.

Possibly. MOL said he looked relieved he was their man so doesn't seem like he's about to walk.

From what I've read, he's apparently not happy with a certain type of FC structure, nor a particular person who was making decisions re player signings at another club.

Having said that, I wouldn't want anyone here as Manager who doesn't see us as a huge opportunity & inviting challange right now, so if that's the case & he's off, then so be it. Tho finding a decent replacement would be difficult of course.

Maybe he is a great negotiator and is playing on front foot

For all we know he may have turned down the Pompy job or another before coming here, as we know he spoke to Cardiff and Sheff Wed, perhaps he was just a bit worried he'd end up unemployed with all these clubs now with a new manager.

There will be a massive change in role from working under Evans to working under what is being mooted here with a CEO, data driven recruitment. More than enough to justify a claim. And, the fact that he hasn't publicly commented should be a pretty big red flag that he's being advised legally.

It is a reasonable concern, but I would tend to think he is more frustrated by how poor these players are. He's not type to enjoy saying the same things week and week out - which is exactly what today would have been.

Alternatively, maybe he just doesn't want to waste his time in pressers talking about the takeover and not the game. Brenner on BBC Suffolk was saying that their questions would be mostly takeover related during the game.

I don't think you understand legal stuff.

Further, this is all speculation. 1st team manager is still 1st team manager. Same role, and any suggestion of any massive change to job roles is simply speculation.

Stop adding to the toxic atmosphere.

If we think about it what has actually changed

New owner. So he has probably lost a bit of time if things go back but he's almost certainly gained funds and a potential genuine chance of competing for promotion in the league above.

CEO. Almost certain to be a massive upgrade on LON.

No DofF, nothing else he won't like. To me he's as big a winner as the fans.

Yep agree, it's an even better club for him to manage, with much better prospects, certainly not something to feel negative about.

I'm most definitely not a lawyer, and didn't mean to overstep the mark!

Isn't it the case that if his role were going to be materially different to what was discussed during the recruitment process then he would have to give consent to this change? Obviously it depends on how significant the changes would be under new owners, but I think control over recruitment would be considered pretty important.

I think you’re all massively over-thinking it.

Nothing more than a manager giving his squad a few deserved home truths following a number of poor performances.
Not the first and not the last time that’s happened here or at any club.

The press had been specifically told he was going to take questions about takeover post game today - fact he sent Gill out rather than his man Roberts is strange

Not if he had Roberts with him whilst they gave the lads a talking to, and If they are in for training tomorrow, that's the first time since cooks been here that's the first time

Maybe just maybe, PC has been nice, he's tried to keep things calm, been supportive, but now it 'serious business time, buck up or get out.

No, but it's 7 to go, and I just have this feeling Pauls been holding back a bit.
it is just a feeling. But being dragged in for sunday training is a different step to what's preceded.

Time running out. Arm around the shoulder seems to have failed. Maybe some harsh words needed?

Maybe Cook saw the Portmsouth and Lincoln/Blackpool results and just thought FFS why can't we take advantage?

that's my educated guess.

- came in, big smiles and warmth
- had a heart to heart "whats up guys" etc
- one or two told no thanks, but still smiles
- "fck the lot of you, I want to know right now whos up for this or not tell me now"

cumulative Joe!

Today was no worse...but nothing is changing, he's tried different personnel, formations and today i thought was slightly more direct as our sideways passing achieves nothing.

None of it has had any impact. That means two things, either the players are not good enough or are not 100% committed....and he's probably decided now is the time to tell them that and lay down a few home truths.
