Could you dump Town and support another team? on 17:23 - Apr 26 with 1259 views | TractorFrog | We'll keep supporting Ipswich! If they're down or if they're up! Allez Allez Allez!
| They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all! | Poll: | Who should start in CM with Cajuste? |

Could you dump Town and support another team? on 17:41 - Apr 26 with 1215 views | Churchman | Nope, it’s ITFC or nothing. End of. I was brought up with it and there was never a choice. If the club dies and a new one grows in its place, I’ll follow that. I like cricket and follow Kent, like NFL and follow the Chicago Bears, but neither is the same as ITFC. Not even close. Neither is the England team. I’ve been to plenty of other clubs’ games with chums and enjoyed them, but again, it’s a different thing.

Could you dump Town and support another team? on 15:42 - Apr 26 by giant_stow | I'd you fall out love with your club the only option is to quietly go away and maybe watch a lower league side on the sly. Just like the catholics, you can't remarry. |
Is that why you spend your time with us?

Could you dump Town and support another team? on 19:29 - Apr 26 with 1172 views | cleaner | Cleaner always have a backup team Crewe is Cleaner's back up, but wouldn't look twice if we thrash 'em. Second team as we lost 1-0 at home to 'em in the Burley years despite absolutely dominating the match, went in to the drum and monkey to have some away fans sit with Cleaner and pals. Instead of giving it large they were waxing lyrical about the footie we played, and we ended up on a massive pub crawl with them and drove them to the station the next morning. One of the best nights out ever, and Cleaner have had an eye on Crewe. It was that night that sent Cleaner on his path to be such an avid traveller, and lots of hours of community service. Could you dump Town and support another team? on 16:19 - Apr 26 by carlisleaway | No Been supporting the club for over 58 years and through all the good and very bad at the moment in no way good I support another team. Happily married but my wife knows that Ipswich is my life, you just know that round the corner we will get better, and when that time comes the hangers on will be back. |
For some reason I was expecting that to read 'Happily married but my wife knows that I love her too...'

A good friend of mine years ago was from there and a massive Alex fan. I went to quite a few games with him over the years (and he to ITFC and our mutual chum’s Southampton matches) including that game (wasn’t it 2-0 on a wet pitch?) and the rush goalie 6-4 game. We spent a bit of time in the Drum and Monkey after that one wondering what had happened. One of the best days was the Crewe Brentford play off Final. Great day. After many an adventure that day he finished in the Trafalgar Sq fountain before we headed off for the rest of the nights fun.

Could you dump Town and support another team? on 21:33 - Apr 26 with 1080 views | Nthsuffolkblue | I couldn't see myself stopping supporting the Town but I can see myself becoming very disillusioned or actively opposing things that represent the club. Indeed, I have felt this way increasingly in recent times. I do hope the tide is changing. There is a lot to like about what I have seen of the new owners and Cook. However, time will tell. I am not enjoying watching us at the moment, though, and for the last few matches I don't much care about the result which is sad.

You may want to look twice at your hockey team though.. 😉
Could you dump Town and support another team? on 22:38 - Apr 26 with 1041 views | Guthrum | No. If it weren't for Ipswich Town, I wouldn't have much interest in the sport at all. It's the Ipswich/Suffolk/family connection which makes it.

I'm too old for all that now..... on 15:51 - Apr 26 by Bloots | ....can't be bothered. It's similar to the wife, I know I could do better but I can't muster up the energy to do anything about it. And after all these years I've got used to her and grown to like her a bit. |
Likewise, if it ended, I'm not sure I could be willing or bothered to invest so much into something new again.

I could never change football teams. I’ve watched the majority of games this year even though it breaks my heart. But I have stopped loving football. Haven’t really watched the Premier league or England games for over 10 years and never watched the Champions League. I find the sport generally really tedious. However, I have discovered that I can support another team from a different sport with the same emotional investment that I have for Ipswich. Since moving down under I have become addicted to Aussie Rules - and whereas I don’t watch any football other than Ipswich, I can easily watch 3-4 Aussie rules games a weekend. And my obsession for my team (Fremantle) is exactly the same as my obsession with Ipswich - an hour or two a day on the fans forum, watch replays of games the day after, consume all of the local press - and if we lose then it ruins the weekend.

Could you dump Town and support another team? on 07:05 - Apr 27 with 937 views | noggin | No but I've been falling out of love with the game for a few years now. I will always be a Town fan but if we became the next Chelsea or City, I would probably lose a lot of interest.

Could you dump Town and support another team? on 11:09 - Apr 27 with 858 views | Swansea_Blue | Dump? No. Was it J2 who mentioned it's an organic process of becoming a fan of a team? Once you've been through that over any length of time it's pretty hard to let go. I don't have any problem supporting other teams though (when you move to a new place or if you go to watch a mate's team and jump in the home end with them). It's not the same though as having 'your' team.

Could you dump Town and support another team? on 12:25 - Apr 27 with 825 views | Harlestonblue | I went to university with a guy from the Lancashire/Cumbria area who, in the first year, proclaimed his support for Blackpool and wore a tangerine and white scarf. Within a year he had switched allegiance to Coventry City, the club closest to our university. In the third year he then decided he was, after all, a Manchester United fan. Needless to say he took a lot of stick from us loyal, one club for life fans.
