I think all the personal digs and attacks are getting way out of hand. I think everyone should rel it in, waaay too much gatekeeping going on from a few. Let people contribute. That's how forums work, no need to keep making it personal or going after a handful of posters. I am sure we can all agree that would benefit us all, instead of breathing down peoples necks like you did me for starting a thread about a topic when I hadn't seen this one. It's getting stupid.

The squad could quite easily look a horrible mess on the first day of pre season - we should have binned off those who had an option and we'd currently have about 14 senior players we could utilise and shift around as and when needed |

Not overly concerned about this. I'm sure he'd have been a good signing but there's part of me that is sceptical about a 29 year-old playing regularly in the Championship being willing to drop down to League 1.
I think we do need to have a bit of realism, we may well be linked with some established Championship players and we may have the finances to compete, but most players worth their salt wouldn't want to swap regular Championship football for at least a season in League 1.
If we get players from higher level teams they're either going to have been out of favour/injured, on the slide, or young and somewhat unproven at anything above this level. Guys like Connolly look more realistic targets at the minute, though whether he's a huge upgrade on Woolf as a CB is up for debate. |

I think because of the last year and its impact on finances there may well be a lot of Championship-standard players on frees and not able to get clubs. I assume squad numbers will be being cut. Has been my concern though, us v a Championship club in a battle for a player, we're almost certainly going to lose out.
One thing I did read is that promotion bonuses don't count towards SCMP. Perhaps Town could appeal to the gambling community among Championship footballers. |
