You keep coming back for more. There really isn't anything to it other than that from what I can see. Take it on the chin, we're all in the div camp on something. |

Season ticket holders tribute for fanzone on 17:47 - May 24 with 2484 views | pointofblue | Look at it this way - season ticket holders for 20/21 put money into the club with the understanding that the season may pan out in many different ways, one of which was they may not be able to attend the ground. Because of this the club vowed that supporters would be able to view iFollow for free. Whether season ticket holders get their money back or not is not important at this stage; the key is the guaranteed income last summer allowed the club to budget for the upcoming season. I’m sure we can all agree it ended up a case of throwing good money after bad but, with better decision making, it could have actually been used to aid a promotion push. The club obviously respects and is grateful to those who paid separately for iFollow but that was on a game by game basis - it was cash in the pocket but not in advance. Same for people who buy from Planet Blue and would be the same, in usual circumstances, for those who buy tickets on the day. Whilst the club is overseeing the refund of the remaining amount in form of TeamCard points, this is across three seasons and, as far as I’m aware, the response from season ticket holders has been good. Therefore the club is able to budget accordingly taking the additional amount into account this year. The club’s gratitude came from the fact that season ticket holders last season paid out for season tickets whilst the future looked questionable about seeing matches in person. Even though this money will be reimbursed via two different methods, the fact it was in the account to start with to cover 20/21 is the important thing to Ipswich Town Football Club - and why they’re making that gesture now.

I was going to post something similar but you'd got there by the time I'd waded through all this sh!t. I'd also add, people wanting refunds may well have had their circumstances change due to Covid so who is anyone to judge that? They put up the cash in the first place during uncertain times. That's loyalty. Paying to iFollow as and when you feel like it, isn't. Sorry Chrismakin, but I don't think you understand the concept of a season ticket and why ST holders are held in higher regard by the club. It's the same as vs people who turn up on the day in normal times. Yes, if you did that every game you'd put more money into the club than a ST holder. But there's no guarantee for the club, so they can't plan anything based on the income from those people. It's not difficult.

I do understand it as a ST holder for many years. And I respect peoples views that the like the wall idea I respect peoples thoughts on the refunds. I disagree however and it doesnt sit well with me that apparent loyal fans are costing the club 2 mill due to a misworded letter. But that's my personal view on it.

How do you win or lose a discussion. As I said. I'm able to hold discussions with people and their thoughts without having to call them 'Helmets' or to get a life etc. If thats me losing a discussion I'm happy to lose as personal insults arent really my thing on a forum

I'm with you that it's a little odd that people renewed in the middle of a pandemic and then expected 100% of their payments back. It's not a massive deal though if people have their name on this. The club can't exactly go through the list and see who donated their refunds and leave the others off. It would look very petty. At worst those who renewed added some temporary cash to the reserves. How much good that did someone like Marcus Evans is debatable but overall it's not a massive deal.

Just shy of £10 per I follow reg x 23 games x 9000 ST holders. Plus ST refunds not donated/ used towards next seasons. Overall you're looking at 2 mill plus. [Post edited 24 May 2021 21:48]

Season ticket holders tribute for fanzone on 15:27 - May 24 by SpruceMoose | Good post. I don't think there's anything else to add really. To bring it full circle, this was a nice gesture from the club. They didn't have to do it. People have been moaning for ages (correctly imo) that the club underappreciates and takes its fanbase for granted. Now when they take steps to improve the situation you get people complaining that the club hasn't made them feel special enough, or they're thanking people who don't deserve it. It's absurd. And lately, it has been the same poster picking faults with other posters, telling them to chill out while having a daily meltdown and so on, and now we have this new support gatekeeping angle based on what people decide to do with their own money. This gatekeeping of who is and isn't a fan is unnecessary and borderline offensive to be honest, and anyone advancing it deserves to pulled up on it. [Post edited 24 May 2021 15:32]

Christ, is everything ok? - I’ve agreed with every single one of your posts in this thread so far. Just to throw my two pence in: I haven’t seen anybody “play the loyal card” as Chris has claimed, and the club have made a very nice gesture, when they didn’t need to. People renewed or didn’t renew for multiple different reasons, nobody is more superior than anybody because they renewed or because they didn’t renew, people will and won’t spend their money exactly how they want to. In regards to the point made about ST holders “taking money from the club” isn’t true. The compensation is ‘paid’ back via Team Card points (Planet Blue), so the club is essentially keeping the money anyway and I believe this will actually increase turnover, so actually a clever way around the restrictions. As someone not in the ‘clique’ and had a few differences with Spruce, I think you’re barking up the wrong tree here, Chris and it’s coming across that you’re jealous because your name won’t be on a wall.
