'Person who has given birth' instead of 'mother' on 16:05 - Jun 4 by Fixed_It
Maybe not. But do you have an issue with the term 'mother'?
Personally I don't, but I can see why an organisation that is invovled with LGBTQ campaigning would prefer that non-gendered language is used where possible.

Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, but personally I think it is fecking ridiculous.

In what way does it impact you? It's telling that the right wing press seem to have jumped on it to try and whip up outrage when in reality it's a bit of a non-story isn't it? LGBTQ organisation suggests employers use LGBTQ-friendly language. Not really much to see here, is there?

I would prefer "Hotstepper", or, informally, "Lyrical Gangster".

Parental leave in Alberta is up to 62 weeks.
That's amazing. Think more companies should shift towards Aviva model where both parents can take six months if they want. I would settle for three months.

me too, but then I'm not undertsanding what's wrong with 'mother'? Only biological women can give birth so what's wrong with a gender specific term?
Is it a fear of offending former women / now men, who've given birth?
That seems to be the idea. But, as Herb says, it's an LGBTQ pressure group pushing for something that's likely never going to happen - but it just gives the red tops something to get all po-faced over for a couple of days before everyone forgets it ever happened.
