What did PC say to Dobra that's so bad that he will definitely leave?

Dobra did actually say he wanted to come back and fight for a first team place. I'm assuming he said that after PC said whatever it was to him.

l agree with you.

But your response to my original post was a bit similar.

Which is fine.

Funny that this whole unwieldy thread spawned from me asking a simple question to a poster who has always been totally pleasant and reasonable to me, and i to him i believe. A question with nothing on it, except wanting to understand something he'd mentioned a couple of times. And a question he was more than happy to answer quite civily.

And yet, a load of other people jump on board and turn it into some massive pile on.

Odd. And a little bit unpleasant. No wonder Joe, who i find very clear-headed and even-handed got exasperated.

I think your title was a tad misleading! The use of ‘so’ at the start immediately made me think you were suspicious of Joe’s perspective. At the very least, I didn’t think you agreed with him.

Funny old thing, our English language, isn’t it.

There's a difference between disagreeing with someone and addressing them like sh1t.

I don't know about PointofBlue's 'status' but he always seems like a nice enough guy.

Dismissing people's posts as "absolute nonsense" and the like isn't exactly becoming is it?

Wowsers, I've obviously misjudged this board as I really don't think saying someone's post is "absolute nonsense" (if that's what you believe it to be) is "addressing them like sh1t." There are far far worse things said every day on here.

I said the nice people!

Your thread didn't come across as harmless but more like calling someone out.

It cannot have escaped your attention that the first few responses were equal to mine in that they weren't keen on your approach.

My response to you was in that context which is a far cry from Pointers just chatting away offering his pov on a matter only to be told he's talking nonsense. I hate that type of condescension* when someone is posting normally.

That aside, I'm too tired to argue and am going to bed.

*That's when you talk down to people.

Oh for crying out loud.

Pointers posted "he is the messiah, the players need to be ditched. There has been little balance, little nuance, very little acceptance that Cook perhaps could have done things differently/better himself at the end of the season."

I took issue... because no-one has called or thinks Cook is the messiah, and there's been lots of balance, nuance and many people have said there are things he could've done better, myself included.

So I said, "That's absolute nonsense I'm afraid." Why on earth is this such a heinous crime? I genuinely do not understand what I've done wrong here.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

This board is choc full of strange polarised arguments, contradictions and imaginary allegiances. Dare question one of the established cyber leaders and you will feel the wrath of his/her disciples. You will be called out for being rude and aggressive in a rude and aggressive way. You will be questioned for questioning those who cannot be questioned and cyber bullied by those who don't take kindly to pressure being applied to the hierarchy. Be accuses of 'flouncing' by those who flounce hardest.

The Flashing Smile, why did you down vote this? All I did was ask Coco for an example of something that he says happens. I'm genuinely interested to know which parts of this thread have been interpreted that way.

I don't mind being down voted but I don't think I could have been any more neutral in the way I worded it.

No offence taken - though I do feel quite flattered that in this thread I might have become a board legend (hoping against hope that was reference to Joe) and perhaps a cyber leader. I always thought I was a bit part on here and nothing more!

I will just add I do still feel the more popular steer on here is Cook could do nothing more at the end of the season whilst the players were basically on sun loungers flicking snot at him. I don’t think the over-arching view being posted by most (not all) is it was a mess up by all concerned.

I’ll also back up what I said before - I think all this is because we have nothing to talk about due to a lack of incoming players. Boost the squad and we’ll be really able to look forward and have something to talk about.

I'm generalising and the points were not isolated to this particular post. I was not particularly pointing to any one poster with my comments, simply making a point - which you are of course entitled to disagree with.

Fair points. My position is I want to back Cook - because he's a very good manager and he's new to the job... plus it's a huge job with all that's gone on. I don't back him religiously or think he can do no wrong, but the constant sniping from some is a bit premature IMHO.

I think it's too easy, and lazy, to just point the finger of blame at whoever's in the manager's hot seat right now. There are clearly deeper issues that won't be fixed overnight... and given how long these players have been failing, and under several managers, they should carry more of the blame than I'd previously attached to them.

The hope with Cook is he’s joined after a run off sustained success - he’s not another Keane, Jewell or Lambert (or, dare I say it, Mick) who were all sacked for failure and waiting for the next gig. And in Jewell and Lambert’s cases continual failure at more than one club.

He must have been shocked at what he found here and, as the end of season approached, we seemed to learn more and more of the mess we were actually in which happens when the people in power do not give a stuff. Do I think some of the players could have done better last season with the right direction and motivation? Yes, I do, but they must have been so flat by the time Cook arrived that perhaps even he struggled to lift them. And that’s before we go into the match fitness side of things!

Cook’s approach was simply not compatible with what he came across when he joined us. Our hope is, with a rebuild and restructure, that come August that will no longer be the case.

Think that's a pretty decent summary of situation. There is no doubt Cook was pretty shocked by what he found here and that is a damning indictment of the previous regime.

We can all agree or disagree with how PC personally handled that, but surely every fan can agree that a massive change was and is needed and we are obviously getting that.

Fingers crossed Cook's approach will work. No one can currently say it won't this season, as he's not had one game with his own squad yet. Personally I have complete faith in him to get this right even if it does put a few noses out of joint. He has done this squad overhaul before. I think he's the perfect manager for us in this situation because unlike many fans he is not worried about upsetting a few people...which i think we'll look back on as a good thing in the end.

We needed to do this with Hurst, but that was the mistake...a promising but rookie manager it was too great a task and although most of us wanted a young and up and coming manager, looking back in hindsight the situation demanded an experienced manager with know how of complete squad overhaul. Cook is the man for this i believe whether you like his methods or not.

I do believe the comparisons to Hurst are a bit off too. We lost 47 goals in 'That' window from 4 players

What have we lost this window? 15 goals from 18 players?
