I don’t really understand this. Apparently it’s not just for Wales but from club football as well. I get that he’s on 500k a week at Real Madrid and that nobody’s going to pay that but surely he can either get a loan or agree to tear up the last year of his contract and sign somewhere else for much less money. You’d imagine Real Madrid would agree to that as whichever club signs him won’t be able to get a fee for him at his age and on that money. That said, 31 is way too young to be thinking of packing it in! The World Cup is only 18 months away and Wales look like they have a decent chance of qualifying as well. Strange.
maybe he is disillusioned with football after a season at Tottenham or he os worried that if he keeps playing for Wales Robbie Savage will be asked to interview him
This is a good example of why some reporters are absolute bell ends. The chaps has just lost (got hammered) in the Euros and they ask about his future. Give the chap a chance to decompress, of course he's emotional and disappointed.

I was listening to the Tifo Football Podcast the other day (would recommend it) and someone said that Bale probably enjoys being the main man to build a team around rather than being a bit part player for a giant club. This problem has been made worse by the fact that his move to Spurs wasn’t permanent and no manager builds their team around a loan player. Perhaps if he were to go to Spurs permanently (or a similar size club) he could find a more favourable situation.
Of course he doesnt mind the money but the expectation on him as a player is painful to watch and listen to. Yes hes a great player but everyone demands a 10 out of 10 each game and hes not getting younger but it doesnt stop people expecting the world each and every game.
He almost gets the blame if the team he plays with loses.

I don't see anyone with a lot of mo ey doing that with Bale. It seems ambitious that hell get through a whole season without an injury, and at 31 he's not got a lot of wiggle room if they get it wrong

Much as I don't care for Madrid, I don't think there was any abuse aimed at him until he continually showed his comtempt for the club and his contract. Even then it was a bit of booing and hanky waving.
It appears he lost his mojo for club football about 3 years ago and Madrid supporters were right to get miffed. Zidane was the most laid back of managers, and whilst remaining totally professional, he clearly found Bale's attitude exasperating and out of line. On more than one occasion Bale was fit enought to play golf or turn out for the national side but not prepared to make himself available for his club side.

I was working for a client in Madrid 3-4 years ago a few of whom were Real Madrid season ticket holders. Bale wasn't popular at all.
And that was before the many Zidane fallouts.
I'm sure his biggest footballing regret remains losing in the 2005 youth cup final. No amount of money can rectify that :)
